Can you \"burp\" 98 GTS from heater hose ?

I want to put in a purge valve (to burp the cooling system). It's just going to be a simple tool like you use to back flush the radiator... I cant' put it anywhere else as the coolant lines are all steel / alum flex pipe now cuz of the DLM system... I think someone once said you can do it from the "high" side on the heater hoses (just under the windshield on the passenger side area under the hood). If so, which hose is the "high" side hose?

Taken from the illustrated upgrades:

The white dot specifies where a purge valve would normally be inserted.

I didn't look there cuz I thought it was for only Gen I's . Guess it helps to look there more than once a year.

Will a simple valve used for draining a radiator work?

Also, I seemed to have sprayed ANTIFREEZE all over the engine, I've got anitfreeze crud all over everything. Kind of like a whitish film, does anyone know of a cleanr that takes this off or did I ruin the metal and have to polish it out?

I don't see why not. The only issue I have with those things is that they are made of plastic that doesn't look very durable. The caps are sealed with rubber, which over time will be prone to leaks. Keith's setup is of metal. The schraeder valve is pretty dependable and durable. Plus, Keith's setup looks purdier.

Can't help you on the coolant on the engine thing.

That is the PERFECT place to put it: Highest point in system. Keith's is purdy and effective.

Purge valves in the radiator hoses are kind of a placebo, because the air trapped in the upper portion of the block will never burp out of the radiator hose..... unless the car was very much elevated in the nose. Very elevated. Like 30-degrees!

Yes, you can bleed SOME air out of the hose, but it works best if introducing coolant thru that U-shaped heater hose at the same time.

back in 1993 (no surge tank, ans a suicidal radiator cap that drains the radiator 92-93) I installed a $3.95 cent Prestone Flush-N-Fill hose bib on the heater U. Worked PERFECT as a bleeder and a filler.
