Relax, I'm still denying all claims to any kids who may be mine :D

The story is, I'm going to a friend of a friend's house next week to give their 9 yr old son a Viper ride because he's a big Viper fan and has never been in one. The kid has brittle bone disease and has to ride in a car seat anytime he's in a vehicle. I'm assuming it's like a big version of a baby seat. Correct me if I'm wrong. My question is, do I need to do anything special to get the seat anchored safely in the Viper? I know to protect my seats as much as possible, but is there anything I need to know about actually installing the car seat? I have the stock 3 point safety belts but don't think the lap belt is still in the car. It may be under the seat, but I don't think it is. Do I need the lap belt? Just asking about babyseats makes me feel all grownup :rolaugh:

Car seats usually face rearward. For a 9 yr old a booster seat makes more sense? In that case, perhaps a blanket on the seat first, booster seat second, kid into seat third, and buckle factory belt over all of it last.

Chad,I have taken my daughter for a brief ride in my 95, she usually rides with my wife in the GTS.Putting a car seat in a Gen I is very tricky since the seat belts are on the door. It can be done but is tricky. The first problem is once you put the car seat in good and tight, if you are using the standard 3 point belts on the door, you obviously can not open the door. I had the top on this day and had to put her in dukes of hazard style. Note there is not a lot of room to do this with the top on. Secondly to properly install it you will need an S clip, since the Gen I 3 point belts do not lock in place. If you have the lap belt still in it would work much better. I took mine out when I did the interior, before my daughter and have since put it back in. Hope this helps.Ed
