Thats my set up. I have Borla headers and a Borla catless back with dynomax race bullets in place of the Borla mufflers and no cats. Yes, it's loud and I like it. IMHO it's the best sounding Viper I've heard. Lots or burbling and popping on decel. With my 3.54 gears, there's a drone around 90 mph, so you have to go 85 or 100 on the freeway.

What did you say? I can't hear you! LOL The best part about no cats is the backfire when you back of the gas. My car even throws flames!
I learned to live with the extreme noise between 2K-2500RPM but for the first two weeks my ears were ringing like I got back from a concert.

I got rid of my cats and rear muffler and it really isn't too loud. Based on what I read before I did it, I understood that it would be unbearably loud, but it sounds good and isn't extremely loud. I do like the popping on deceleration and the drone isn't noticeable. I say go for it or do like Chuck says and do a little at a time.

I have the Random Tech metal cats and also get all of the popping and snapping on deceleration. Great sound.

From my understanding, a lot of popping and snapping on deceleration is unburnt gas which could have been used to make more power. My car did the same. It really popped when I put a Mopar race computer in a few years ago. The dyno proved the power loss--16HP with the race computer. I bought a VEC1 in Nashville. It totally eliminated the popping and gurgling. And yes, I do think it sounded good, especially with Belanger headers/no cats/3" pipe, but I'd rather have the power.

Can't wait to do the same. I have a set of Dynomax race bullets waiting to replace my Borla mufflers. I have SVSi headers and no cats and can't wait to hear the difference once the Dynomax bullets are on. I like the car loud so I'm sure I'm going to like it :2tu:

When I took the cats off I lost 30RWHP since the car run rich but later put on sims and VEC1 and in total I gained 7RWHP and 12RWTQ.

I have a couple of dumb questions. First, with all of the unburnt fuel exciting the rear, does it get overbearing with gas smells when you are in traffic, etc. Second, with no cats, do the side sills finally stop smelling like they are burning up? I have Belanger headers, and Random flow cats, and the Corsa 3" out the rear. I am soon to get the Polished Sean Roe S/C within a week, and am wondering if I should ditch the cats? I dont' want to lose horsepower, and get smelly exhaust all for a louder sound???
Thanks in advance. Dennis Kimball

how long is the stock factory resonators?? shorter than 16" or longer?? is the dynomax race muffler same as the normal glasspack?? they look the same, and both are straight though with fiberglass packed inside for the sound...

The VEC1 picked up 14HP and 20 pounds of torque for me. I have rear O2 sims and drilled out the front ones per Sean Roe's advice. The front ones are located in the OEM position. Haven't set a light in over 10,000 miles.

I have yet to be bothered by any unburnt gas smells from running no cats the last 25,000 miles. The side sills are much much cooler. Before installing the headers and losing the cats, I was starting to blister the paint on the driver's side sill--back end--where the door latches.

I had that exact setup on my car. It's reeeeeally loud, but I liked it. I'm putting a 3" on tomorrow for improved flow. The stock exhaust pipe is a joke! I still can't believe they used pipe that small for a 450hp, 8 liter engine!
