I have found they have the best prices around here for new Michelin Pilot Sport rear tires on our 94! And if you use your Sears credit card, you get another 10% off. However, I will be watching them like a hawk when the actually do the install, as they do not do many tire installs (mount, stems and balance) on cars like the Viper, and I don't want them to make a boo boo on this car.

I was wondering if any of you have or know of experiances with www.tirerack.com I understand they will drop ship the tires to stores in your area that will install them for you locally. Sears beat these prices?, but I wonder what shipping costs and then what the store will charge for install. Hmmm.

Mich Pilot Sport 275/40-17 $290 335/35-17 $327

Price I got from Sears complete with tax, balance and new stems was $665.50 total including the 10% off for using the charge card. Not bad at all, the best other local price I got was 429.99 each, so that is a big difference. The Tire Rack is also good, but I just want it all from one place, and done in one place. Besides, if I am out somewhere and something happens to a tire, there are a lot of Sears stores around. But, they do not stock this tire, it is not a big seller! Youre gonna have to wait for a replacment.

You have an inside guy there Russ? Why didn't you just post the price in the first place?

Michael,

Sorry, yes I do.

Ask for Dante, dont know why you were treated like that. I always get treated really well. Give them a call again, and ask for him.

I just spoke with him, and he asked that you guys only talk to him and tell them you are from the Viper club.

Try E-TIRES I've bought tires from them 3 or 4 times in the past. They had the best price and they were always in stock, shipping was fast- 3 to 5 days, and was free.

I just check Sears today (6/28/02) and the 335/30/18 were $343 and the 275/35/18 were $307.

Mounting/balance et. al. was $14 a wheel.

I checked their tire machine and it was the new vertical arm type with the nylon head so that if it does touch the wheel, it is nylon.

The only other thing you have to be careful about is that when they use the tire iron, they put a rag under it - or some irons have a plastic sleeve. (The rag thing is not as bad as it sounds because the iron does not scrape along the rim - it "falls" off the nylon head and remains stationary on the rim.

Sears also said they had no problem my buying the tires, storing them until I need them and then mounting them.

I have to look into this 10% off credit card thing - that would be nice!

It's funny, but 25 years ago Sears was a great place, then they sort of changed and were not worth the time. Now they are worth shoping at again.

As a Ford Dealer , also, we have access to their tire program, and guess what..................they are still cheaper through Tire Rack or Jon B at Parts Rack, and John Zisser at Zisser Tire.

All three have Vipers ( VP of Tire Rack owns one ), all have been helpful on the board, and pricing is always consistent. Try these guys and you won't be sorry.

Parts Rack 360-837-3937

Zisser Tire 800-869-8992 ask for John Zisser or let them know you are a VCA member

I just bought my fronts (285, 17-40's) at Sears. Price was unreal. I paid $220... Then found a local shop to mount and balance for 20 bucks..

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING

When talking about Pilot Sports, DO NOT get ORDINARY Pilot Sports!

These tires are inferior to the Pilot Sports specified for the Viper, Ferrari, etc.

The CORRECT, SUPERIOR tire has a designation of C1!

Pilot Sport C1

REMEMBER THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
