I want to know if anyone bought an intake system that had chrome tubes with an open air filter? I think Belanger makes one. Does anyone's check engine light come on? Please post pictures of your setup from as many angles as possible. I am having a problem with this kit I bought off of ebay. Thank you all for your help. VCA is the best place to get help. :usa: Alos what is that plug that goes into the stock box on the passager side. which sensor is that? :headbang:

I've seen set ups with the cone filter and chrome tubes actually lose power on a dyno. You're sucking hot air from the engine compartment instead of through the airbox.

I dropped the air temp sensor twice when I was trying to install the intake. Do you think I might have damaged it? Where can I get another one? How much are these? Anyone have a spare they want to sale? Thanks guys.

have you tried the key on/off three times to read the trouble codes?
Email Tator for the best price for the sensor if you need it

key on/off. do this 3 times then count the blinks.

it will flash codes using the check engine light.
blink blink blink would be a twelve.

at the very end it will be a 55. there is a pause between numbers. the air temp sensor blinks a 23. at least for a 97'...

Scary thing is that I can remeber doing the blink code on a 1984 daytona turbo!! some things don't ever change.

That sensor is pretty rugged. Drive it and it will reset if the sensor is not damaged. The PCM sum-checks for the error at the same set of engine parameters (when the error occurred) and when it sees it is cleared the light will reset. There are other reset cycles, but, that is the one that clears the code first.

Just what GTSsnake said, they are no good. They look cool for shows but other than that they serve no useful purpose. Trust me, I bought a set and had absolutely no gains on the dyno, unlike what is claimed. You already bought them so you have already wasted your money. Heck, I would have given my old ones. They now sit on a shelf collecting dust.

Let's face it, the stock air box is probably the worst looking thing under the hood on a viper. However, it probably does perform at least one useful purpose; and that is attempting to get some air from the NACA duct even though it sits right on top of the radiator and probably does warm the air some. The chrome tubes and open element cone filters look much better, but as mentioned in this post, can take in more hot engine compartment air. Though I would suspect that's more of an issue at idle or when you are on a stationary dyno.

If you go with the chrome tubes and open element filters, I would do what some others have done in the below pictures. Looks likes a good idea to me and should help to stop some of the hot air that passes through the radiator away from the air intakes.

I agree that the reason I went with this setup is because it looks better. I don't think you will lose HP because of it. yea maybe dyno because the car is sitting there. The filters seem to sit right there in front of the duct so when the car is in motion, cool air should be **** right in. Did any of you guys who install these felt slower?
