OK, as I so readily stated often before, im not the most mechanically inclined, I just drive **** good. So, can anyone please explain to me why you would want your polished rims chromed? is it preference? durability? higher shine? what? isnt polished the "new and improved" look for yesteryears chrome. whats the benefits of considering chroming my wheels, i saw a thread and yeah they looked great, are they that much different up close?

-- Looks flashy new, but has a short life on large, flexible wheels driven at the limits. Indeed a classical throwback.

-- Some Evidence that it weakens alloy wheels. I am told that Japan may not allow chromed alloy wheels as a safety concern. Rumor? Supposedly, their DOT equivalent says NO.

-- HRE sends back 3 of 5 chroming attempts!

-- That said, we have a couple sources that have provided excellent 3-plate chrome that has now survived 3+ years in near-new shape. They do engine parts too !

I have to disagree with Jon. They are easier to clean, and care for. Also,I have had parts plated on my motorcycles to my cars and four wheelers. And have never had a durabilty problem. Some stuff like my Vette's wheels have been plated for over 4 years now(Still looks new). Now polished is a diffrent story. They are a pain in the A*S to keep up. I went to chrome with stuff over six years ago. I will never go back to anything else. Just my 2 cents.

The difference in appearence between even highly polished and chrome is considerable--I have had both on 2 Vipers. dealers , who don't know any better often advertise new Vipers as having "chrome wheels", yet another indication that many dealers know little about what they sell. I had Kinesis K5 chromed wheels for nearly 4 yrs without ANY problems. There are horror stories out there because of people not knowing how to do the chroming, but if done right, they look, in my opinion much better.

All my work is done by CCW out of California. Everything they plate is the triple process. John is the owner and can tackle any problem. Also, 2 year warranty. Here is the web site(Good Reading) www.calchrome.com
