I saw Yve's Chrome Tri's and was very impressed - so much so that I might want to look into polishing or chroming mine when I get my '94 in September. What is the process to do this? What does it cost, can anyone recommend someone in the area (CT.)? Generally, will the wheels come out great, or is there a danger of not having this done right and ruining the wheel?

Dave.

I think that the general consensus here is that California Chrome does the best work regarding chrome. Here is the website address:

My Indiana wheels are headed out west this winter. Not close but I've heard nothing but great things about this company.

Yeah, they do good work. They took some dinged up wheels I bought, resurfaced them and chromed them. Here's a pic:

No clue who did it, my car came with the chrome wheels. It is day and night difference though when I put it next to another Gen 1.

I wouldn't polish them unless you have them clear coated. You'll be polishing them all the time without a clear coat. Chrome would be my choice.

There were some cautions back in the mid 90s about having the flat surface of the three blades (maybe the entire rim..) polished or sanded first to remove surface irregularities. It was said chroming the rim as-is (less paint of course) accentuated production imperfections that otherwise weren't so visible when just painted silver, and made for a look that left some unsatisfied with their rims after plating.
