I wouldn't use an engine degreaser on the red paint. It will leave a white residue on it...

Keep mine clean with a cloth, brush and white spirit, doesn't discolour anything and leaves a very slight protective residue

Matt, as I wrote that I wondered if white spirit was a UK only name, it appears it is ! I think it is sometimes known as turpentine substitute, is clear and is used for cleaning oil based paints from brushes.
