Viperholics,

I have a few white stains/dust/dirt on the hood pads of my '98 GTS. I would like to detail them, but don't know the best way. I was thinking steam clean..... Any tips/ideas????

Thanks in advance.

Hate to say it...nut my '96 had those white stains too. I tried everything I could think of to remove them, but had no luck. I wound up buying a new pad. Never put it on though, and now have one in the box to paint for my 2000. Anyhow, I think they are water stains from washing the car. I have avoided them so far on my 2000 by placing a piece of masking tape on the backside of the hood where the "speaker grille" drains are, for when I wash the car. (Take it off when the car is dry)

onerareviper,
As Tony said, give the whole thing a cost of paint. I had white stains also, and used a liquid, non soap cleaner with a toothbrush to remove nearly all the white. Then I covered the engine, front facia, and anything else where spray paint might go. Used a flat black spray paint and painted the complete bood pad. It looks like new; also did the side pads.
