I haven't done a search for this, so I apologize if this has been asked, but i notice on my SRT-10 that under normal driving conditions, when leaving from a dead stop under normal driving, the clutch feels chattery and not smooth -- why is this? Car has about 2700 miles on it, but I have only had it for less than a month and bought it used.

This is common. About every fourth one will have a bit of this, and if it still has it at this mileage, it won't get better. The type clutch it is should not have any, but if you change your take off style it may reduce it. The dealer will replace it for you under warranty. I'd just do an upgrade to it. My chattering clutch has gotton so much better as it has broke in and I'm learning better take off procedures. I'm talking about the after market setup I just installed.

ps, if the car was launched hard before the clutch had a chance to breakin, this is the biggest cause of this problem. You will see large burn patches in the pressure plate.

So replacing the clutch will be covered under warranty because of this vibration? If so, I may go get this done, as my cigarrette lighter doesn't work, nor does my manual door lock buttons, so I need to take it in for those two items (I just found out they dont work, unless I am missing something.) I plugged my phone into the cig lighter and nothing happened -- it SHOULD work, right... or is this turned off by default for whatever reason (nope, I haven't opened the manual yet.)

Lighter won't work with ignition off, and those phone plugs that go into the lighter often don't work to well in certain lighters. Did you try the lighter socket in the center consol?

Yes they will replace the clutch for you if they can detect the problem. I will tell you that a very slight chatter is somewhat normal, due to the very large size of this clutch. But very slight, if worse than thats not normal. If they take it apart for warranty and find it severly hot spotted, then they may charge you, but I'd then go ahead with a clutch upgrade, and aluminum flywheel.

I had this same issue. When I changed to 3:55's it went away. The stock car is geared very long. First was almost good to 60 mph. Clutch needs to slip quite a bit to launch car in normal driving. Seemed like starting off in second gear in other cars.

Paul is correct, that is another factor. These cars are so tall in first that it's a struggle for them to get going, and the clutch is really under some load.

Ya need the gears anyway, so hears another good reason to put them in.

My uncle drove my car once and the first comment he had, was wow, this car is tall in first.
