Renamed this thread because I figure "Coolant lift" would be confusing. Lots going on in my viper world today. So I was doing some cleaning under the hood of my ACR today and I notice a dried on glob of something on the silver rail that runs in front of the motor. I am not very car savy but I assumed that it was coolant. I immeditely looked under the spot where the car has been parked for a couple months and didn't see anything. I referred to some photos of when I got the car back in Nov. '08 and teh same spot was there. No bigger no smaller. I would take it to a viper tech but I can't remember when the dealership with my tech is closing.

The picture is poor quality but the glob (coolant?) and the hose it's sitting under are circled. Glob is circled in black and hose in white. Any suggestions would be great!!

My car ('02) does not have what appears like heat shrink around the hose at the end of the braided covering in your photo. Perhaps someone replaced the original hose because of a leak and didn't clean-up the residue that clued them in on a leaky hose.

I'm feeling that it is about time that I replace my hoses and belt.

I think it is some sort of adhesive that holds the braided protector onto the hose. Mine were quite covered with the stuff.

Would also agree it's adhesive. It looks like the cuff on the end of the braided area is a heat shrink type of tubing that more than likely is an adhesive lined shrink tubing. Over time with the additional under hood heat, it will ooze adhesive. Use some carb cleaner or acetone to clean it off the aluminum chassis crossmember.
