Cracked Left Rear upper A arm

Cracked Left Rear upper A arm (forward bracket) that is attached to the frame on driver’s side of 94 RT10. There seems to be a 1/4 “vertical crack and a longer 1 ½” horizontal hairline crack along the 90 degree radius that is a factory bend.

Is this common, any idea on why this may have happened and suggestions and cost to repair?

I will try and post a digital picture.

This morning I got into it with a Dental pick to find out that the paint had cracked and started to lift. Pulled it off and low and behold,

No crack.
