I was on my way back home from a trip in my viper...when all of a sudden I saw you oil light come on. It shocked the heck out of me at first, and then i looked at my gage...gage showed pressure. The engine sounded normal....so i'm guessing it's a bad sensor. I called my tech up and he said probobly cause if my oil presssure was gone, my car would be making bad noises.

Anyone else have this problem? Is it common?

I know the Viper has two of the sensors...which one is for the light? Good thing it's covered under warranty.

Yes.

In the last year I've had to replace both my sender for the oil pressure warning light and my sender for the oil pressure gauge.

The warning sender gave me about three weeks warning with the
oil pressure warning light coming on before it started to leak oil. Of course that was the Friday night before my Saturday night twentieth year high school reunion so I removed the sender and sanded down a wooden dowel to fit and silicone sealed it after jamming it into the sender. Worked for two hundred miles before replacing it.

Replace it now. It costs only about 38 bucks if I remember correctly and is a 90 minute job if you cut a NAPA 1 1/16 open ended wrench in half on a chop saw so you will be able to turn the wrench and loosten and the tighten the sender.
