Current gen 1 tire offerings

So what are people doing for the 17" gen 1 tires lately? The set on my mom's 94 is getting a little long in the tooth and short in the treads (on the rear at least). The set that's on it are Kuhmo Ecstas, but it appears those aren't available anymore? All we've been able to find (aside from racing tires) are the Michelin PS2s, which I know are good tires, but they're getting up there in price. Are there any other brands out there still making gen 1 tire sizes? If so where are you all finding them? The usual suspects (TireRack, PartsRack, VPA, Discount Tire, etc.) either list nothing or only the PS2s.

PS2's are all that I have found. Other than throwing rocks, I like them.

Discount tire was the cheapest on the PS 2's when I was shopping...

I see, looks like the rear tires are the main hurdle. Was confused when I looked up front tire sizes just now and saw all sorts of options. Looked up the rears and suddenly they all disappear. Does the cars tolerance slightly different size tires from stock relatively well (assuming they even make anything close)? Like for instance what about a 335/40-17 as opposed to the 335/35-17 that's stock? Has anyone gone down that path?
