Who has or who could fabricate a tublar upper A - Arm for my Gen 1? I only track my car and with the standard Delrin Bushings my suspension is getting all out of wack. The caster is actually moving forward & back. This is casing a real big problem for me at the track. I would rather not go back to the OEM Rubber Bushings. Can anyone help? Mono Balls? is a possibility.

If you only track your snake, what about trying spherical bearings, rather than the Delrins? Much better but they won't take road use, dirt etc. You'll have to get them machined out to take the spherical's with c-clips.

There are also spherical bearings with teflon webbed linings, so you'll get the precision of the rod end bearing, but much improved life due to the good tolerance to the road dust and subsequent wear. Had both types on my kit Cobra; in hindsight buying the non-lined bearings was a waste of money.

Joe & tom thanks for your help. I am seeking the information that is needed. I believe that i am leaning toward the direction of having custom made upper a arms.

is it normal for the spring to be resting on the a arm? Today i noticed that where the bushing goes thru the first set of holes on the a arm it is nice & tight. Where it passes thru the 2nd set of holes there is definatel lots of room, this does not seem normal to me at all. I do believe that my a arms are starting to collapes from the stress. any opinions? i will send pictures if someone can help me out. I am thinking about making some chrome molly a arms for my car. I would need a donor set for measurements. can anyone spare a set of upper a arms for the GEN 1

Frank,

I think there is some likelihood that the Gen2 front suspension is interchangeable to the Gen1 cars. At any rate, the Gen1 upper arms are directly off the 4WD Dakota truck. The stamped steel arms do indeed have a combination of large and small holes.

Hi Rick, how'd ya do at Rd Atl?? Try giving these folks a call-- american viper racing---561-684-1231. Eric Burch is/was the crew chief for the team. I've spoken to him and he's a very helpful, informative person. Actually, I had to cut him off, he loves the racing so much, just kept on talking and I had to get back to work. He has said they were moving operations up north. They should have a cure for that problem. John
