Hello Everyone, I need some advice.
I was checking on purchasing the DC Warranty through Fitzgerald Motorsports for my '96 RT/10. The new F&I guy handling the warranty business quoted me a price a bit over $2000 ($200 Ded).

I called a local Dodge Dealer here in Atlanta and they said they can sell me the same warranty. The local Dealer then told me the warranty would not be honored by Dodge if I ever made a claim
on it. I was told that Dodge would refund the purchase price of the warranty if I ever made a claim.
He went on to explain that any claims over $1000 are scrutnized by Dodge and if the claim was not being submitted by the Dealership that sold the car originally the warranty would not be honored.

The guy finally told me that the DC warranty was not worth having as Dodge would only credit the amount of the warranty purchase price toward the warranty claim. I asked why even advertise a worthless warranty?, I was given no explanation.

The information I was given by the local Dealer supposedly came STRAIGHT from the Factory Warranty department/Dodge representative.
The guy at Fitzgerald MS said every warranty he has ever sold has been honored regardless of the dealership that was performing the service and he is clueless about the information my local Dealer provided.

What is the Truth, should I buy this DC warranty or is it just a $2000 saving account provided by the Bank of Dodge?

I agree with Chuck, you may need to clean your shoes. I negotiated a 7yr 50,000 mile warranty for $1099 with a $100 deductible. That was 2 years ago.

Honored by any Authorized Dodge Dealer.

Don't hope I need it, but I hope it pays for itself. Quite the contradiction.

Now you see why I have not used any of the Atlanta Dealers to get service. My DC Warranty has been super. I go all the way to NC to get service from Tom Sessions at D&E. Is it a pain, yes. Is it done right the first time, always. If you review all of the posts about the DC warranty you will find a mixed bag. It depends on the Dealer! The DC warranty is good insurance which is worthwhile getting.

Ulterior motives. You will find that many dealerships prefer to sell you a "non-factory" warranty. Car makers dictate how much they'll pay the dealer to perform repairs. Sometimes these conditions are not in favor of the dealer, so they look to cheap 3rd party warranties that provide better profit margin for them. But sometimes these warranty companies are not backed by insurance or claims reserve accounts, and go out of business, and you lose. Remember, extended warranties are some of THE most profitable sales to a car dealership. They can often make more on the warranty than they do on the car itself.

I have never heard of anybody having major claims troubles with a DC extended warranty. Be sure to buy it from a REPUTABLE dealership like Woodhouse Dodge (Bill Pemberton - 1-800-889-1893) or Tator's Dodge (Chuck Tator - 914-763-3136), as I believe both of them will treat you right on these warranties. Keep us posted!

I bought a 7/75K extended warranty from Bill Pemberton for less than $2K, and it has paid for itself 4 times over already - frame brace and new steering rack. You can get this handled by Woodhouse over the phone, which would be my recommendation.

I got a complete Arrow rebuild with my DC warranty so nobody is going to tell me that it is not worth anything! However, it does depend heavily on the dealership! The people on the other end of the phone at DC were great to deal with, and very good customer service!
