distance between stripes (GTS) ?

Hello all GTS-owners,

could someone be so kind and tell me the exact distances
1) between the headlights and stripes
2) between the stripes themself
3) between the front viper logo and the stripes?

The reason is that on this friday, my new purchased red '97 GTS will get the white 2002 outfit from a local professional guy who manufactures and attaches the stripes.

I'd like to receive an almost original look, so I'd like
to tell him the exact measures for his job.

There were slight changes from year to year, do a search and you'll find more info.

If you can't find info just go with 8 inch stripes with 4 inch separation.

Following is my understanding of the different stripe specs:

96' -- 8 1/4" stripe with 3 15/16" space in between
97' and up -- 8" stripe with 4 7/16" space in between

so i assume you went with the 97 up line info.
they look great!!!

why the front plate? We are required here in New York State,USA
to have one but most don't because it is only a equipment violation and a $25 fine.

It's not so easy in germany to get rid of the standard plates.
I won't get jailed , but the fines differ between the individual countries and states.

The factory stripes actually go into the NACA ducts, not just on top.

Dean,

there seem to be different versions of GTS stripes,
don't they? I was told so in this forum. Some going
into the NACA ducts, some not.
Is this correct?

Factory stripes go into the duct... why? because someone was
lazy at the factory and didn't want to take the duct out before
the stripes were painted and do it the correct way....
It probably is due to the fact that the hood is painted with
all three of the ducts installed prior to shooting the paint,
then the stripes are added later. They were probably afraid
that if they took the ducts back out that they could damage
the paint around the ducts...

If you see a car that has aftermarket stripes "painted on ", and
it is done correctly and you compare it to a factory job you'll
see what I'm saying.

For aftermarket stripes I say no stripe should be on the duct.

The stripes are not painted, they are sticked
(white vinyl), so I've the chance to remove them
at any time i like to.
