I was asked to post this for Lou (known as Fishtail on the board)

Check out the airfuel! WOW, tuning is superb! His car has no headwork and still has the stock cast pistons. On 93 octane pump gas. Just a standard level I with exhaust and intercooled. 739RWHP and 678RWTQ for a creampuff now on standard Level 1's.

DLM uses centrifugal blowers? (Not a Roots type?)

Fantastic! Great job.

DLM uses centrifugal blowers for vipers only. they dont produce much heat and that with a intercooler is a good combo for some serious cast piston power  . honestly my car doesnt make that much power because i have older DLM technology. The a/f looks perfect and shows some darn good tuning! fishtail what other mods do you hvae?

Very nice graph I assume you have head work and a new cam?

it said...."His car has no headwork and still has the stock cast pistons. On 93 octane pump gas. Just a standard level I with exhaust and intercooled. 739RWHP and 678RWTQ for a creampuff now on standard Level 1's".

OK. That dyno curve is very impressive for a creampuff. Heck, for any Viper. Know one disputes Doug as being a great tuner/person, at least from the post I've read.

But we all don't have unlimited funds. So, let's cut through the BS. HOW MUCH $$$? I'm sure it may vary slightly from car to car due to tuning time (+- $1,000), but let's not beat around the bush, so to speak. HOW MUCH? Did I mention I want to know HOW MUCH?

Later

P.S. - Let's assume the exhaust modifications (headers/3' exhaust) are already on the car, so don't add this on to the price.

Don't know what Doug's current pricing is but I think a year or so ago that setup was around $20k installed. Not a bad deal, really; the bigger problem is waiting months to get in & out.

Thanks guys! I'm still so excited :) :) . Onerareviper, your right, all cars are different. You tell Doug what you want and he custom builds a system for you. Mine cost about 18K installed. They did not charge me a penny more than what was agreed. I was surprised how fast he built the entire system because the bigger supercharger setups take much longer. The Level I's are built fairly quick. This car is SWEEEEEET! Boooost baby!!!!

Agreed... I didn't want to part with my car so I had Doug sorta prebuild my supercharger system for me. Well worth it!

that 18k was just the s/c system?
The entire supercharger system cost about 18K installed. The exhaust was extra but the price was less then I can say on this board :) . Doug gave me an offer I couldn't refuse. He guarantied me over 650 rwhp with no exhaust or other modifications......just supercharger alone. I really wanted the exhaust more for sound over the extra horsepower but when he made over 736 I didn't complain  I'm just happy with what I got for a creampuff!

here is the question i have.....i have heard from everybody on the board that for that level of boost to achieve 650+ hp, you need forged pistons. i researched the basic necessities prior to getting my car s/c'ed (in the process now) and that seemed to be the one that stuck out the most. i am giving doug the benefit of the doubt, b/c he surely knows a lot more about the car than i do, but it seems that the majority said you need forged. i see that roe claims that with his 8lb pulley, you need forged, and i know heffner requires forged pistons before he touches the car. im just curious if there are other cast cars out there that have handled this amount of hp. this isnt a negative comment at all, i really am curious, and im sure your car is a beautiful beast! i am not presenting any bias here, i am asking an honest question....

Redsnake - I can't speak for Doug, but I do know that he has quite a few of these level 1 "creampuff" cars out there making high 600s / low 700s HP, and I haven't heard of an engine failure yet. Forged piston cars are more tolerant of heat and detonation, but Doug seems to have the "magic tuning recipe" for making big, reliable power on the cast-piston cars.

I wouldn't think you could expect more horsepower from a non-intercooled car, I suppose 5lbs would be the limit w/o an intercooler? A good tuned DLM system with an intercooler shouldn't be a problem for a V10 motor, maybe it would be for a V8. 100 hp per litre on a 8.0 doesn't seem extraordinary. Doug is a talented tuner and can get the job done for either cast piston or forged. He's been sc'ing Vipers for a looooong time :) .

Lou, those are some impressive #'s for any Viper! How much boost are you running? I do not know how you could stand holding back the dyno sheet if the car was dynoed on 04/10/2003! I would have posted it right away! Congrats again and enjoy the car!

I thought the same thing. But from what I've learned it's controlling the power by tuning that is the main issue. Controlling cylinder head temperatures, etc .. Of course there is a limit for anything, a SAFE limit. Kind of like a first time driver behind the wheel of a viper and a seasoned race car driver behind the wheel... ... DLM has several creampuff cars (cast pistons) pushing over 700rwhp....

It's late, g'nite

[/QUOTE]Thanks! You have no idea  . When Doug told me how much my car made on the dyno I got even more excited  . I couldn't sleep waiting to get my car back :p .
I see more boost on the gauge at night or on cooler days but I've seen as much as 8lbs!
