just wondering.

my mustang has 4 parts to the exhaust Headers, H or X pipe, cats THEN cat back is the viper the same way?

I changed my headers, cats and cat back on my viper is there anything else to change there?

Thanks and sorry for the dumb question.

Nope, no X-pipe on the stock Viper. I bought the RandomTech cat-back from Jon B at Partsrack and it has an X-pipe in place of the rear center resonator chamber. I've heard of some other aftermarket exhaust systems having X or H pipes, but no stock Viper to my knowledge.

Probably not much good at the rear - you're right. Would be better just in front of or behind cats, but no room there...

Sorry for asking but, what would an x pipe do so far in the back?

Valid question Bob!

Forward, the x-pipe would be expected to provide a Torque bounce, but waaay back it will be negligable. What it DOES do is two-fold: a) It blends the 10 cylinder note out of both pipes, helping to minimise the resonance of 2 single pipes. b) It helps stop 'backfire-pop' on deceleration, more evident with straight pipes. It helps create a nice burble vs. pop-pop-pop.

The RT system has the best features of the B+B, and the nice Corsa-like tips, and a BEST VALUE price of under $1000 catless or oe cats, and under $1300 WITH HI FLOW CATS.

John, I have the B&B 3" exhaust, B&B hi-flow cats and Borla 1 5/8" stepped headers. I have more backfire-pop then ever on decel and the B&B has the x pipe, as you know, in the rear.

Viper Magazine reported several years ago that the Gen 2 Viper engine didn't show any hp gains when bench tested with an exhaust crossover in the typical, optimal placement, so perhaps the scavage effect with the 72 deg. odd fire is a lot different than a typical V-8
