Does Dash blow hot air when heat is on in GEN 1 car

I just had my HVAC control knob in my car replaced because it was stuck on dash.
Now everything seems to be ok. Except I am curious if the gen I cars are supposed to blow hot air through the dash vents if you have it on heat. Right now only cold air / or more like vent air blows out when dash is selected and the heat is on, not hot at all like the floor or defrost. I do not remember how it was when it worked because I hardly ever have the heat on in the car, but the wife was curious and sparked my curiousity too.

No, the dash vents don't blow when heat is selected. Heat is only blown through the lower footwell vents.
