Does Venting the Rockers Work?

I know some people have vented there rockers both front and rear to cool down the exhaust pipes. Does it work? My 92 does not have Air Conditioning. The passenger side blows hot air from the engine. Wondering how to make things more comfortable for the wife. Insulation may work for the floor but there is hot air blowing out under the glove box. Should I open up the other speaker on the hood? A little nervious about that one.
