Re: Doesn\'t the Venom 550 have headers?

Sounds real fishy to me. "Yeah, I bought a very expensive Viper but don't know squat about it. I think it's a 550... It has the stickers on it...". Ya right, whatever. Buying a car on EBAY is like playing Russian Roulette.

Your much better off buying from a well know, respected, VCA member. Good luck...

Re: Doesn\'t the Venom 550 have headers?

Actually, headers are part of the base Venom 500 package. The Venom 550 should definitely have them ( 1.75" T304 stainless steel with racing 5 to 1 merge collector with hi-flow cats & mufflers through 3" exhaust with 4" tips ). Additional mods include K&N filters with smooth tubes, Venom 550 cylinder heads, T&D 1.7 shaft rockerarms w/ hardened steel pushrods, HMS lifter upgrade, HMS aluminum flywheel, HMS aluminum pulley upgrade, Magnecor 10 mm wires, HMS short throw shifter. Car should have some Venom 550 badging on the valve covers and a serial numbered dash plaque. Without even having the headers sounds like it's possibly bullsh!t to me. Also, enlarging the picture ( on link ) of the rear end, the exhaust tips look stock to me which they definitely should not be either. Good luck and buyer beware.

If it's a Venom 550 it HAS headers. If it doesn't then it must be a ricer. (loaded with decals) Another thing to be wary of is the rockers. I just changed mine to the 1.7 Arrow roller rockers. Mine came with the comp cam 1.7 rockers with the girdle and since the geometry was wrong I had two that wore abnormally.

See pics > Venom 550 Rockers

Here is a list of what should have been done (minus the aluminum fly wheel which didn't exist in 1994)

Venom 550 System,
0-60 mph: 3.5 sec.
1/4 mi: 11.7 sec. @ 121 mph,
Top Speed: 187 mph (I think this is low)

Includes the items above plus:
Stainless Steel 1.75 in. long-tube headers,
Venom Cylinder heads
(3-angle valve job,
extreme duty valve springs,
bronze valve guides,
titanium retainers,
porting & polishing of intake and exhaust runners
and special preparation of the combustion chamber,
10:1 compression),
HMS roller camshaft upgrade
with timing chain upgrade and engine management computer upgrade.
Venom 550 valvecovers,
Venom 550 floor mats,
Venom 550 logo (placed under Viper logo on car).
Professionally installed and dyno-tuned.
Includes all necessary gaskets, hardware, fluids, etc. Allow 6 weeks for installation.
US $22,000.00

Hope this helps.....
