Dear Fellow VCA Members,

In noticing all the major corporations sending funds for Disaster Relief, I wondered how most of you feel about sending in funds to VCA to show our concern and support as a group. I realize all of us have already given to various agencies ( Red Cross & Salvation Army ), and I am sure some members have given of their time in New York and DC. I have not contacted anyone at VCA headquarters, but I can not imagine they would be opposed to this.

The address I have listed is:
VCA Headquarters
26970 Haggerty Rd.
Farmington, MI. 48331

I would suggest checks made to VCA - Disaster Relief, or just VCA with a notation for disaster relief in the notation area.

Feel free to express your opinions, but I think it would be a heartfelt gesture from such a close group of car afficianados.

Great idea, Bill !! Wonder if VCA's 501C(7) status (a "taxable non-for-profit" as I understand Bylaws) effects tax circumstance of donation. Any tax attorneys out there???

Steve,

I appreciate your concern and I believe that there would be no problem for the VCA to donate to the American Red Cross , for example. The Salina Region of the SCCA had an Autocross this weekend and all proceeds were donated to the Red Cross. I know when they incorporated one of the discussions was about their tax emxempt status, and that it validated said status to put money back into the community, state, etc. in the form of charitable work and donations. Hopefully we can have some of our Legal Eagles let us know for sure, as it would be a wonderful gesture from all of us.

I just submitted an article to VCA Notes asking you the members what we should do? I also spoke to Jim Julow on Friday, and he told me that DC had donated "$10 million to the cause", WOW!

I extended an offer on behalf of the VCA, "to help in any way Dodge sees fit, to pool our collective efforts together". I will be talking to someone at Dodge today, and I will let everyone know what the status is.

I'm in. Bill is to be commended for this idea. I already have a "USA" euro style decal I have placed above my drivers' side door button which will remain there at least until Charles Bronson, I mean George Bush, et al , smoke these boys from their holes. I would look forward to adding another decal.
