Finally got back to the dealer for a brake fluid change, they had put in DOT 5 silicone fluid a bit over a month ago. They bled the brakes and flushed it out tonight, and changed it over to DOT 4 High Temp fluid. Did not charge me for anything, also got my 200 mile break in oil change (per Arrow's break in instructions), and they did not charge me for the labor, only parts, and I bring my own oil (Mobil 1), as they do not carry it. Is that fair or what! They are a little country dealership in West Michigan, so they may not service many Vipers, but they certainly treat their customers fair. Can't ask for more than that!

Why take out DOT 5 fluid? DOT 5 is already high temp, does not absorb moisture like non silicone, and DOT 5 will not damage paint if you drip any.

All I use is DOT 5 silicone. What am I missing?

!!! DANGER WILL ROBINSON, DANGER !!!

Do not run silicone fluid in a Viper.

Search the topic DOT-5 and Silicone for extensive reasoning.

"Silicone is for Breasts, not Brakes"

Jon B,
I'm not so sure it's good for breasts either! From what I understand, it is better for use in most of the older muscle cars as they are driven even less than most Vipers, and it does not attract moisture. That is a killer for older muscle cars, and they do not use the cars on road courses like the Viper owners do. Lots of articles in hot rod and muscle car mags about using DOT 5 or silicone fluid in muscle cars.
