Right to the point. I took Gerald’s Levin Supercharged Viper for a few hours Saturday evening. One word – Levin, what the **** were you thinking? Ok six words, but my point is that this car is f-unbelievable! It’s so fast it’s sick! It has so much power that it shouldn’t be delivered without 5 points and roll cage. Thankfully the owner is a candya$$ and doesn’t have the balls to take it to the limit. Quite honestly I don’t know if I have the balls either…but I wanna find out.

So I dropped Gayrald off at his favorite bathhouse and took off for the local Saturday night motorhead hangout. This is a typical weekend hangout with 150 to 300 cars. Well, the Levin Viper stole the show. Vipers always draw a crowd and when I show up in one of mine it’s kinda **-hum because they always see me around. But this thing! They heard it coming and everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY came over and the tech session began. Being that I didn’t know everything about Levin’s package I had to fess up and admit that it wasn’t mine. After a few hours and giving a few rides I had to return it to it’s rightful owner.

Doug, you did a masterful job on this Viper. Congratulations! What’s left? How do you top it??? In street trim I doubt the car could be taken to the floor, even at the traps. I hate to use all the typical cliché’s but this car really is UNBELIEVABLE! I’m inspired to save up for Viper # 3 and send it to you.

Special thanks to Gerald for letting me take it. I know we kid him about the “***” thing but I think that’s all “behind” him now.

Wow Gerald, that's alot of trust to let the beast get into Chuck's hands, moreso after so little seat time youself, not that the novelty of 800 horse at the tires is something that disappears.....after seeing the side swipe marks from Chucks fighting for lane position.......haha....

Anyways Chuck did you get into any action at all, or Gerald, I want to hear some bridge stories, or is it really that tricky to hook at any speed?

If one of the DLM SC owners who has gone to the dragstrip can tell me I would appreciate it. I am considering going the forced induction route as I like at a higher altitude. Thank you.

TJ,
I've run 10.70 @ 140 on stock pilots, no nitrous. I'm not the best driver so I think I could run a better ET with more practice. My best short time was 1.70. On nitrous I can run over 146 mph in the 1/4 mile, ET's about the same. I've never run with slicks (yet), but I will post some numbers soon when I do. My car makes instant power with no lag and on the street it makes enough power to outrun anything I've come across. If your serious about forced induction, I would highly recommend calling DLM (249-RACE) he's one of the best tuners I've ever dealt with and my car has been running strong for over 2-1/2 years.

Yup, that would be awesome and yes I would do it (no wife, no kids). Can't right now though. Keep it in good shape for me though.

Chuck,

What package do you have? What is the RWHP? How many miles have you put on it. And you've not had any problems???

Thanks

I have over twenty-thousand miles since my car was done. I've not had any major problems, just the basic maintenance. I found It's very important to keep the belt tight, oil changed regularly and clamps tight. I have one of the older level III's and the newer ones make even more power. My car makes over 700 rwhp. I'd like to send my car back to DLM to get it upgraded with an intercooler and other goodies so I can make even more power

. I like the added power on cooler nights and would like to have the same feeling all the time! DLM is one of the biggest and busiest, but Doug has always been there to answer my questions, he's one of the best tuners I've ever dealt with and he cares about his customers.

I would imagine as far as E.T. goes they will run about the same due to the fact that you can only go so fast on street tires, if they were running street tires. I'll go out on a limb here and say as far as S/C'ed cars go, the DLM vipers will have the highest MPH due to the higher HP and torque output of similar engine packages...

Chuck,

Do you have any other mods? I'm trying to decide between heads, cam and nitrous versus a SC. TNT has done all of my work and they have done the work on 6 out of 7 vipers that run under 10 sec. The only inducted air viper that is under 10 sec is the TT of HMS fame. I really like the SC versus nitrous but don't want to spend the extra money if the SC can't turn the numbers. There is alot of talk about the SC's but no times.

Lee

I don't know enough about TNT so I can't really say much about their packages. All this talk you hear on the Viper Forum accounts for only a small percentage of SC owners. There are many more DLM car owners that don't know anything about this Forum. I know of other supercharged Vipers that don't post their track times on this Forum, and honestly they don't care to. They just want to go out and have a good time without being critiqued. Good luck deciding what best suits your needs.
