Is anyone running the 21" mufflers on a GEN 1 Viper with the cats still on? I would like to know what kind of sound is coming from them.

Is this the Ultraflow from Dynomax? I have them, but without the cats. I love the sound, but mine is the rear exhaust, side might be a bit loud.

I am having a hard time choosing between the 16" and the 21", my Cobra sounded like you were running open headers and I want to stay away from that. I like it loud but not that loud.

rsviper, definitely 21 inchers then...I'm running 14" bullets, and it's loud, but heard an identical setup with 16's and it's the same. 21 at the min., or maybe try dual 14's. They're a new size, and maybe a set in the sills, and a set out back would be good. For what it's worth.

I was running the 3" bullets (21" case) and Roe hiflow cats. Too loud for the wife with the CANVAS top on. I put the original cats on (ouch) and the sound is a bit better. I did this only after reading how some guy spent $400 on hiflows and only got 4hp and 4ftlbs torque out of them.

fyi, I didn't listen before, but now I'm convinced that 3" pipes with stock manifolds make it louder and don't give you any extra power over a 2 1/2" system. (The stock pipe is crushed to about 2 1/4" after the flex coupling. I couldn't grind the outlet of this opening out large enough to utilize a 3" pipe.)

I recommend 2 1/2" race mufflers with the stock cats.
