I have EBC green pads on the front, and they've been great - no more dust than on the rears with stock pads and no more break sqeaking. However, I seem to recall that everyone says not to use EBC Green pads at the track. I believe this is because the tread life is lower for these pads, so you don't want them to go out on you on a road course, but what about at the drag strip? I'm considering going to a 1/4 mile strip soon, and don't want to deal with swapping pads just for that, since I don't really see any problem with using them...

The life of the EBC Greens, like many other pads, are also a direct result of your driving style as well as the pad material itself. Beginners tend to be on the brakes longer than experienced drivers and tend to see greater pad wear. I know a few guys who bring a few sets of Green's to the track. Not a big deal if you check them and replace them. EBC Reds are also an option for greater wear properties, but they are Carbon based (squeeking, dust, etc).

Absolutely should be no problem at the strip, just check them periodically. Replace when worn -they are pretty cheap, comparibly.

Nope, I'm not a rep, just enjoy their dust free operation at a fraction of the cost.

Shifter, seeing as you only live a few miles away from me in Novi, are there any other drag strips in this area besides Milan Dragways? I have gone there 3 times and the track prep *****. Do you drag race?

Sean, ever pop over to Grand Bend 1/4 track on the GTS side of the border???
Decent track there, and newer facilities to boot.....

I thought Detroit Dragway was well prepped, pulled the front tires there in the past (non-viper).

Ryan, where exactly is Grand Bend and also I think the Detroit Dragway you are referring to is closed down. The only place I have found around here is in Milan, Michigan which is the Milan Dragway.

Hey Sean, here's the site:

http://www.grandbendmotorplex.com/

check it out, it's on the other side of Port Huron, I can make it from Windsor in 90 mintues going thru your way in the US, you should be even less. Great facilites, and great cruise scene on summer weekends there on the main strip, great bar scene. It's our Ontario version of Daytona beach!

Detroit Dragway closed down a few years back, for sure, have been to Milan a few times.

talk to ya later,
Ryan

MotorCity Madman,

I haven't drag raced my Viper, but I did drag race my Cobra. I tried Milan once, and that was the last time. I usually drove to Indy or Columbus, Ohio. Had some friends near there that I stayed with.

I'm planning on spending quality time with the Viper at Gingerman Raceway. Many Fridays during the summer they have open track days. All you basically need is a helmet, and it's about a 3 to 3.5 hour drive from Novi. If you think Drag Racing is fun, you've gotta try Gingerman, even if you don't push it to the limit.
