tackled my engine mounts on friday. spent 4 hours and manged to change the driver side only. i have a few problems and question that maybe you guys can answer.

had the car on hoist with a jack under the engine.

- had both engine mounts unbolted and while jacking the engine up the car still lifted up off the front 2 hoist bars. it was the only way to lift the driver side mount out.
-had all the bolts off on the passenger side but could not get it out since the stock header tube was blocking the way.

pretty sketchy doing 1 side since every time i jack the engine up the car goes up too and all bolts were off.

found out 2 things while i was messing about.
-all bolts were torque over 100lbs and had to use a pipe as leverage to get them off. 1 almost snapped from being stretched from over torqued. no lock tight or antisieze was found
-mounts were replaced before since bolts look like but half the rubber is cracked.
i re torqued all bolts to 30lbs and 70 for the nut and all bolts and nut was coated with antiseize.

so the main question is, how do i take the passenger side mounts out safely.

Sorry you seem to be having trouble, please could you answer a couple of questions so we could understand in more detail whats going on ;)

Have you loosened the transmission bolt? If you try to raise the engine without that being undone it would contribute to the car lifting and put a lot of strain on the transmission housing!
Do you have a stock exhaust system? If so I would recommend removing the side sills and undoing the front rubber vibration bracket attached to the turnout pipe (because if you raise the engine too much this will tear!

So you have undone the two lower nuts at the bottom of the engine mounts?

Next you need to remove the horizontal bolts that attach the engine to the aluminium mount bracket. You will need to slightly lift the engine to take the strain off the bolts and use a drift to wobble the bolts out of the brackets. With those bolts removed you can raise the engine higher and remove the bracket AND the mount.

Those things are very important! When I did mine, I don't know how I would have safely done it without removing exhaust, side sills, and tranny mount. Good luck with the change though! See if you can get a buddy to help out. that 2nd hand will definitely make a difference.

didnt loosen the trans mount.

have mopar exhaust

i have undone 2 the 2 nuts and 3 bolts. so i guess the transmission housing kept the engine from raising any higher. i hope i didnt damage anything.

with the transmission mount undone, can the engine be raised high enough that i can get the passenger side mounts out with the stock headers in the way?

had a buddy watch what i was doing and to raise the jack while i tried pulling the mounts off.

Didn't buy membership yet so I don't have access to that area.

So buy loosening the transmission mount I can jack the engine high enough so that the stock headers won't be a problem?
