Have a new 05 SRT with approx 2000 miles on it. Plan to change the oil every six months/1500 miles. The Dealer(Dallas Dodge) recommends and sells Mobil 1 5W-30 fairly cheaply. The guy saying this is a Viper tech (and shop head there) who mentioned that most oil changes in the shop now use this grade of oil. With Texas weather, does anyone see any problems using this instead of the recommended 0W-40? I used this on the first change and have had no probs.

Use what DC recommends. Dealers often try to switch folks over to other weights because they buy in bulk. Fine for your Stratus, etc. but use the 0-40W in your Snake.

Mobil 1 only 0-40W, like Bill P. says, unless you are modding it, then that may change.

Report your dealer to Dodge. There's enough misinformation about oils and we don't need dealers to add to it.

Just changed the oil in my 2006 coupe. Plan to change around 2500-3000 miles. Used the 0-40 mobil syn.
