Does anyone have recommendations on a exhaust system from manifold back without cats but with a muffler that I could swap back and forth as desired with my factory exhaust? I want to leave the rest of the total system stock.

If I left the rest stock, would 3" be the best bet?

Gen1, side exhaust.

I welded on a set of dynomax 3" bullets and Roe cats. I went 3" all the way and bought some 3" mandrel pipe from summit racing. Cut the original pipe at the flew pipe and welded it all together with a $400 mig welder. Picked up 15 hp.
Its very loud with the top and windows on, but its perfectly obnoxious in full convertible mode, which I prefer anyway.
Heavy drone around 1400-1600 rpm (6th gear freeway). I may go with a 2.5" system next time if I don't buy the 3" headers. My wife thinks it is too loud and I may buy a 2nd viper ('99) anyway.

cycleryan, I don't think I've seen your car around. I cruise Lake Travis and NW Austin mostly.

I have Belanger headers and 3" straight with Dynomax bullet mufflers... 11.85/120 Mph, quite good numbers för a gen1 Viper. That is ofcourse without N2O.

I have the Belanger 3" Cat Back system from Parts Rack. Ran the car like that for 6 months. At Voi7 I added the Sean Roe VEC 1 system. Big difference in sound and performance. With the Top on, windows installed. Power, at 5,000 rpm the windows vibrate violently. Possibility of headaches (very mild, in denial).
