Last week I installed Roe smooth tubes and S&B filters on my FE GTS -- put it on the dyno today. What a shock! I lost horse power and torque! We then did a run with the front of the air box off and no filters. See numbers below (SAE corrected).

414.5 rwhp & 453.6 torque - bone stock (950 miles on 3/29/03)
408.2 rwhp& 446.6 torque - smooth tubes and S&B filters (1100 miles on 5/10/03)
417.8 rwhp & 455.6 torque - open box with no filters (1100 miles on 5/10/03)

The weather was almost identical on both days. I was expecting about 425 rwhp with the tubes and filters and couldn't believe the numbers when they showed up on the screen.

Anyone want to buy a set of red smooth tubes and S & B filters?
Actually, if I had taken my OEM tubes and filters with me I would have put them on for a same day test comparison. Never dreamed it would be necessary.

I think it is just dyno variation. I can't imagine that dynos are accurate to more than 3-5% (12-20 hp) on different days. Could also be the smoothing setting as that can make 10-20 hp difference. My dyno runs varied 5 hp when done 5 minutes apart. (Probably engine temperature). I wouldn't worry about it.
