Not yet a VCA member, but I did get an '01 GTS weekend before last!

It has been an absolute thrill so far - everything I imagined and more. Lots of stories from the first week of ownership, ranging from being hit by a golfer 10 minutes after purchase (no damage thank god!), to having some kids in a WRX follow me into a gas station and say they want to film me and my bud's ferrari 308 for the "mischief" video series.

My only issues are the brake squeal (I'll be doing EBC green or Porterfield R4s soon), a lot of vibration at 80mph, and the worst tramlining I've ever seen! All minor things compared to the sheer pleasure I get from driving. Does anyone else get all anxious (like a nic-fit) when they go a day without driving the beast? It rained today and I am going nuts not being able to take it out!!!

Here are some pics I took alongside my friend's 308. These are not very glamorous shots but they're all I have:

My screen name will soon change to 'DesertSnake'. I also want to thank all of you for the wealth of information you have given to this board. I've been lurking for quite a while and have learned so much from you!

I always liked the 308, but the Viper looks sooo much better. (faster too) Have fun and get used to the car before you start making any videos! Congrats!

Welcome. Get in contact with David Salazar, the new New Mexico Pres :2tu: [email protected]

He's been putting together some fun things lately from cool cruises to track things.

Congrats!! Not sure if tramling is the same as TDS (that darty sh*t) but if it is a new set of Pilot Sports made a world of difference for me.

Vibration at 80? Have the tires balanced.

Viper withdrawals I am very familiar with-the first thing I do now when I get up is check the forecast, there is only two types of weather--Viper friendly or other.

Be careful with your "red rocket"; we all know what is the fastest color.

If you like Ferrari's and Vipers I have some pics of mine with my brothers 328 (and some of his friends-F-40, 550, 308 and a 330 TRI) in the media section.

Brian, very nice and welcome to viperworld. Withdrawal is a [******] and up here on the north coast I am going to have to get used to it or drive in the rain for much of the next 6 months!! We do get some awesome stretches of weather in the winter between storms but the roads will remain wet in the forested areas and north slopes till next spring so alert driving is the order of the day. I have the RS4 pads and like the way they stop but the squealing can be very annoying when cold. I like the 308 but does not hold a candle to the snake, esp. from the front. Happy motoring.

BRIAN, welcome to the wonderful world of Viper Ownership. Lurk No More! We have a great Ferrari-Viper comeraderie in NW and IL regions.

As you noted, you may have joined this board, but are not yet a VCA member! I hope you WILL Join at 1-800-998-1110. Many Vendors here will make it worth your while almost immediately.

Enroll in a driving school......some of the trepidation will immediately clear, once you upgrade the 'software' between your ears. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks JonB :) I've been trying to upgrade my software over the last couple of years with autox and track events. That was in a Ford Probe GT though! Last time out I boiled my brakes and rammed into the tire wall - gonna have to be a lot more careful with the Viper! ;)
