Yahoo!;

Thanks to your recommendations, I bought the HRE 546's. Polished, Clear-coat, etched center caps; beautifully made works of art!

I bought the "First ever" HRE's for the SRT from Jon B at Parts Rack, and it was an experience. First off, Jon needed to find the run-flat pressure "sensors" that needed to be built-in to each wheel. Then, it took some special effort by Jon to be able to even buy the new tires. Jon B accomplished all of this by much personal effort by himself, as the SRT required the right sensors, and the tires are not easy to come by (yet)

All said and done, I have new tires (same as factory), sensors installed, tires balanced by HRE; READY TO GO!

NOTE: If you buy new wheels, your tech will need to look at the 2003 SRT "service manual" to be able to re-sync the new sensors to your Viper. The process also requires a little rubber coated round donut magnet to do this job as well; my dealer had this magnet on hand, fortunately.

If you buy HRE's, call Jon B. Great discount, great service, great attention to detail, great product! He now knows how to get the stuff you need for aftermarket wheels. For me, this took about two months (5 weeks to make the wheels), it will be quicker for you folks now.

I need to find out how to post pic's easily. VIPERMAD Tony, I will call you for your offer on doing this for me, but my E-mail IS NOT working for the past couple of days!

I'd love to see some custom wheels on the SRT. That just might change things dramatically.

Re: First HRE wheels for SRT installed yesterday! How do I post my pic\'s?

Belated greetings;

Yes friends, I have let you down. Pic's from my personal "Area 51" coming tomorrow afternoon.

I apologise for not getting these pics up for you. I had surgery last Thursday, and on Saturday we had a death in the family.

These HRE's are BEAUTIFUL, and really give the SRT some extra attitude,

The pictures I will post will be of my Silver SRT on my new Cytech lift in my (clutterd as usual) garage. I'll show as many good angles as I can in hi-res. Man, we have some SERIOUS meats on this beast. I love looking at the SRT when the lift platform is at my eye level. This SRT is very exotic in my eyes.

I AM going to do the Ziebart "sound shield" on my wheelwells only when the weather is decent enough to leave it for the day. Based on what the treatment did for my Audi, it's really going to get rid of a lot of road noise from pebbles thwacking, sand, bumps, etc.

I won't let ya' down!

You guys DO crack me up!

Jim

Re: First HRE wheels for SRT installed yesterday! How do I post my pic\'s?

Sorry to hear about your recent bad luck. Hope all works out for you.

Went to Startech/Brabus on Friday and saw the black SRT with the red leather interior and the 20" Startech wheels. The car looked great. They want 33 over sticker for it! Without the wheels!!
It seems they are reluctant to sell the wheels with the 20mm spacers and longer studs necessary for the clearance problem with the new calipers.
I am now a bit concerned about my Startech's fitting when I do get my SRT.
Jerry...my car has been D1 for over 3 weeks now...I think you saw a red Viper in LA while you were dreaming at the Penninsula hotel. Knowing the bar there, I would have been dreaming about other things though!

Re: First HRE wheels for SRT installed yesterday! How do I post my pic\'s?

Dear Viper friends... I'M BAAAACK!

I apologise for not posting the pic's as I have had a VERY unusual week. The surgery, I looked forward to (I FEEL LIKE MY SCHNOZ HAS MEEN MODIFIED WITH K&N FILTERS AND SMOOTH TUBES!); Losing my 103 year old Grandfather was another story; of course, he would have to pass away the day after a 3-1/2 hour operation. So much for DON'T DO ANYTHING FOR FOUR DAYS (doctors orders).

OK, about the pic's! I have forwarded them to the highly esteemed Y2KGTS for posting, as I am too inept to figure out how; ( I TRIED, I used the "SEARCH" key too) I could not find ANY instruction on our site. Yes, I have a college degree, and my brilliant wife (a pharmacist) couldn't figure it out either! Someone PLEASE post "hold my hand" instructions on this for me, OK!

The wheels are beautiful, and I sent Chris 3 pics for your dining and dancing pleasure; I hope you like em'. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK? When looking at them, please remember that the Flash penetrates into the wheel wells, which makes the SRT look like it has the ground clearance of an SUV (NOT!). The digital resolution these days is SO GOOD, that it looks like I polish my HRE's with a Brillo Pad. They are perfect, really!

You can also get a look at my new Cytech "DP-7"; THAT thing was a good investment! If you buy a lift, make sure you cough up the extra $1,200 for a side mount gear driven door opener; it gave me an extra foot of ceiling height. All said and done, about 6 grand for everything installed (sure beats a 30K double garage addition that matches my house design). "Mike" (Grunden?) from Cytech is a great fellow, and drove the whole way to Iowa (in a storm) to deliver and install it. Make sure you get the solid (removeable) floor plates and definitely the Aluminum ramps as well.

Gotta go, my pain meds have worn off!

Remember, it's all up to Chris (Y2KGTS) to get these pics up for me. THANKS CHRIS!

Cheers,

Jim Wallace

Incredible wheels AND some incredible rear wheel gap! Whoa! :eek:

No offense - just haven't noticed how much there was before (good angle + lighting + new wheels kinda draws it to attention more so I guess).

Not to say that my Gen2 doesn't have it's fair share either...

Jim... Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. Now that you are on drugs, it may be a good time to ask a question... Are you ready to sell your stock SRT-10 wheels to me?

gtsviper - I was at the Four Seasons in BH. The red Viper was in my dreams. The BLACK Viper was in my garage! I hope your ride arrives soon. I haven't had mine for over a week. Can't wait to get it back. It looks like it will still be a while though. I'll find out more tomorrow.

Re: First HRE wheels for SRT installed yesterday! How do I post my pic\'s?

NEXUS-6;

I wanted you to refer to the section of my last post where I mentioned that, because of the *********** of the CAMERA FLASH, the gap looks WAY BIGGER THAN IT IS.

Really, these new wheels make the SRT look LOWER in person. I also shot from an extremely unusual angle (up on my lift) which exaggerates this mirage even more. My observation is that because there is noticeably LESS metal in the HRE's than the stock wheels, you see so much more of the brake discs, calipers, and BLACKNESS of the wheel well. My wife says they look VERY cool when she sees the SRT in motion. Maybe the "see through" effect from this angle makes us focus on the black area. I will be sure to post more pics with the black top "down"; THEN, the wheels look extremely aggressive. I took these photo's in a hurry today, as I knew you all wanted to see them ASAP. Check out the close-up shot; the craftsmanship and the "etched center cap" are really just decadent!

Jerry; I am really thinking about selling you the stock wheels. I want to really learn how to drive on the track, and the HRE's are perhaps not the best choice for flogging. What company makes the BEST, lightest, safest wheels you can buy? I am curious, as if I sell you my OEM's, I will but the best I can afford for the track- same thing goes for a HELMET. If cost is no object (I won't scrimp on ANYTHING where safety is concerned) what are the "ultimate" race wheels for an SRT (and versatile for different tires) and the lightest and best helmet?

If anybody wants more wheel pics from different angles, I'd be pleased to take them for you. I am also documenting the differences in drivers/passenger windows fit/weatherstripping for posting on the "Smartglass Weirdness" post I started.

Also, I forgot to post the close ups og the MGW shift knob and Liscense frame; very nice indeed (and shifts better too!).

Keep those photo requests comin' in folks! Thank you all for your kind posts, very appreciated indeed!

Jim - How about a trade for my 18" BBS GT2/ACR unused wheels? I'll even throw in a set of brand new never been mounted Michelin Pilot Sport tires purchased from Jon at the Parts Rack.
