I must be missing something. I read the shop manual and all the fuel filter replacement threads and I don't understand how anyone can reach up there and get ahold of the filter, let alone manipulate the quick connects.
Does the inner fender cover need to be removed or pushed aside?
Do you access the inlet side of the filter from there or the other side?

I did read where Chuck said this is a challenging proceedure. Not very encouraging words, I might add, coming from the Wizard.

Any hints from fellow GTS owners?

Thanks in advance!

This job is a huge pain in the butt. The top connection is the pain. I had my car on my lift so loosening the inner fender to slip my arm up through there did help. Still a pain in the a butt, and be prepared to get gas on you. My face/etc sure got plenty.

If you do not have a lift it is near impossible to get to the top connect laying on your back. Take off your rear/driverside wheel. Take a drill/dremel with a cutting/rotorouter bit and slice a 4" slot in your fender/wheel lining just near the fuelfilter. This allows you to pull it back to gain access to the Top connection.

Also get one of these to help you seperate the top connection:

You must be registered for see images attach

PM me with your # if you would like for me to talk you through the rest. Its all fresh in my head since i just did it.

It can be done without taking the wheel well out. Some just pop off in 10 sec and others take forever. Just keep trying and then POP! It is off. Remember you have to push in the line 1st then pull it back!!

It helps if you like the taste of gas. It is a royal pain. I don't think I am ever going to do mine again.... It is not hard but can be very frustrating and time consuming.
