Thanks for reminding me why I now have a Viper and not a cobra mustang! After reading those posts I remember why I gave up on those forums! It sure is nice to deal with a class act of people that post/own vipers! Just one more perk of having a VIPER!

To people on the lower rungs of the socio-economic ladder, their car is the single most important icon of their self-worth, and the most validating possesion to bolster their self-image. So if all they can afford is a Mustang, then they will argure the worth of a Mustang until they are blue in the face, citing modded performance numbers, or if that don't work, they will resort to the famous performance-vs-cost ratio.

Do we do that also, as Viper owners, when discussing the Enzo, and the Porche GT2, or the upcomming 10 Cylinder Porsche?

Nahh, I didn't think so.....we're too cool!

Holy crap, Corral never ceases to amaze me when I post there. I'm familar with having a few post ****** and trolls on boards since I've spent a LOT of time on CamaroZ28.com over the past few years, but Corral knocks CZ28 and all other car sites I've seen on their ear. There are plenty of knowledgable and experienced guys over there, but there are just too many dumb kids who post.

I'm not partial to any make/model car, I like them all. I just happen to currently own two Chevies. But if you go over there and post? Better bring the raincoat, even if you're asking simple questions and are on their side. Heck, I went to help a guy out who was working on his '95 5.0 GT. I've wrenched on my buddy's two cars now and basically built his 95 5.0 on my own. So I gave this other kid a few tips on how to save some time and frustration when changing the intake and they all jumped down my throat because I was a "Chebby" guy who knew nothing about Fords telling him how to do it. There's nothing about an intake swap that requires an ASE / Ford certified tech to explain. Hell, I've swapped a whole different engine/wiring system into my 91 RS and am intimately familiar with most late-model engines regardless of make. Needless to say, I don't frequent the site. Just too large a percentage of a ghetto population over there. I've gone to import sites that put Corral's membership population to shame. Not saying they're all bad at Corral. In fact, probably 85% of them are ok. But that 15% of big-mouths is about triple anything I've found elsewhere.

Although I just received a 2003 Cobra from Bill P. at Woodhouse a few days ago, I dont consider myself a Ford guy, more a Dodge guy. Just happens that I didnt want to wait a year or so for my chance at a new Viper and the Cobra was a great toy to play with for now. It will break me in to the performance world. Bill P will verify my urges of wanting a Viper as I've talked with him over the past few years.

Anyway, although its not a Viper the 2003 Cobra is a great car for the money and has great potential to challenge some of the supercars I (we) dream of owning. I do have a college degree and have learned alot from the Viper forum on the mature way you handle yourself with cars of these magnitudes. There is a kid in me that says "lets see what ya got" but the other side usually takes over.

I love my Cobra, which is the first Ford I've ever owned, and will have a Viper before I die.

I havent seen the message board your talking about but I agree that theres several boards that just want to talk smack about other manufacturers as has been already discussed.

Anyway, just wanted to pass on my .02 cents. Hope everyone has a great holiday season.

Nice post, Dave. I didn't even follow the link and read the thread because I can predict the content.

Viper guys aren't immune from that kind of thing either, and I see it regading Porsches and Ferraris all the time. I took my 99 GTS to a Ferrari Club track day at Laguna Seca and had a great time. The Ferrari guys thought the Viper was a cool car and were a fun group to hang around with.

They can afford Ferraris so they buy them. It simply doesn't matter too them if a Z06 or Viper is as fast of faster in certain situations. I was able to pass 360 Modenas on the front straight and they came buy after the sessions to check out the Viper and talk about cars. I'd love to own an F355 or F360.

Last year, I bought a Z06 and really like that car as well. I'm always amused by Vette versus Viper rhetoric and it looks like the 03 Cobra allows Mustang to join the fray. If I was looking for a car right now, I'd go check out the new Cobra.
