Thanks in advance for the help. I had to take the intake off my 2009 project Viper to re-polish the intake. All of the gaskets appear to be in good shape, so is it worth replacing them (anyone know the approximate cost is for a new set)? Would it make sense to add a small dab of RTV? Lastly, can someone confirm the torque specs and tightening sequence. I'm assuming the torque sequence is the same as the Gen 3, and you know how they spell ASSume?

As others have discussed, I was a bit surprised at the collection of oil in the intake, so I will be adding an Air/Oil separator.

C'Mon Spring!

If you havent torn the gaskets, then yes they can be used. However, last I checked 65 dollars per side for the gaskets so 130 bucks is cheap insurance to avoid doing the job over again....your call.

Metal Single Gasket: NOT Reusable. Do NOT use RTV. Torque is 96 inch. Sequence is center spiraling outwards, snug all first, then torque.

Green "O-Rings": Reusable. Do NOT use RTV. Torque is 96 inch. Sequence is center spiraling outwards, snug all first, then torque.

Rocket 62,

As stated the 2008-2010 intake gaskets are reusable if low mileage and in good shape when removed. You mentioned excessive oil inside intake which is normal for G4, so remove each individual gasket from lower intake and wipe down with quality cloth being careful not to over stretch or pinch gaskets , then thoroughly clean oil deposits in lower intake including intake runners and machined gasket groves. Re-install (the gaskets install one way only with notch. I reinstall gasket to same runners - not necessary though). RTV is a no..

On upper intake thoroughly clean excess oil as well. Wipe TB's clean with quality cloth lightly solvent saturated being careful not to move butterfly's, if you do be careful not to damage, then may require a re-learn on the DBW and Pedal settings. You will know this by engine idle qualtiy and throttle response feel will be off. Do not get solvent on upper intake, it's painted and solvent will lift the paint. When assembling upper / lower clamshell be sure the metal gasket has been wiped clean of oil and tripple check your trq sequence to ensure proper seal. When installing TB's do not over trq and use proper trq sequence (star pattern).

When installing intake assembly to cylinder heads install all bolts finger tight (we use elctric screw driver "not impact driver" with clutch on low setting). then using a high quality inch lb. trq wrench use a 3 step process to ensure intake is installed flat to cylinder head face as this also ensures good gasket seal. Make sure that vacuum lines are installed properly to ensure proper idle quality.

These few tips will help enusre proper installation of your intake assembly. If you would like a copy of the factory manual's install procedure which includes the trq specs and sequences just shoot me an email and I'll send it your way. Please note we're currently moving into our new Shop, so give me a little time to respond.

Thanks,
