I'm working on upgrading the factory sound system. I wanted to start with the speakers.
After reading that my 96' RT/10 would accept 6.5s speakers and ordering them, I found out after tearing the door panels apart for installation that it's not the case, 5.25's only
I know I could hack up the door and make them fit, but I'd rather not.
Part of my plan for upgrading the stock system was to use 2ohm speakers, as I could squeeze more power out of the factory Alpine amps. I wanted to share with everyone that I found the Alpine data sheet for these factory amps (unbelievable considering the amps are 10+ years old!).
For anyone who's interested here's the factory data sheet in a pdf, note this is is a direct hit for the amps in my 96' RT/10, it's possible they used different amps in the earlier cars:

If for some reason it asks you to sign in, follow their process, and click thru to their amp tech data sheets, and select model #3513.
The amp is identical, except the Viper amp has the addition of an INPUT MODE switch.
I was happy to see that the Alpine unit is 2ohm capable, so I'll see how it sounds once I get the proper sized 2ohm speakers. If the sound *****, then I guess time to swap the head and/or factory amps. If it doesn't ****, then it's time to install the Alpine MP3 cd changer
