getting a gen 1 HP to match a Gen 2 Q\'s?

I am considering a 96 RT/10 and factory HP is 415. The current owner put smooth tubes and k/n filters.

I would guess from doing a search here that HP is now around 430.

I would like to do the Corsa 3 inch cat back system but I am not sure if I should do the cats too.

For the price do you think doing some high flow cats justifies the cost?

Any guesses on HP gains on doing the cat back only vs. doing the cat back with high flow cats.

I would like to get the HP at 450+ just to say that this gen 1 has the same hp as a gen 2.

call it HP envy.

Thoughts or actual dyno results would be great.

Thanks!!!

If you ad a set of Belanger headers to the discussion you will definately reach 450Hp.
I have Belanger Headers, 3" pipes with dynomax Race bullet mufflers, Tubes and K&N on My Gen1, the quarter is 11.85/120mph, wich should read atleast 450 crank hp.

Have fun!

The 11.85 slips are with M/T, but it is the speed that indicates the power, not ET. 120Mph trap speed indicates atleast 450 crank hp with a weight of 3700pounds.

Save the cost of high flow cats and put is staigh pipes, if your in an area that does not have a sniffer test. Better sound and a pick up of about 12 to 15 HP when compared to stock cats installed. My $.02
