It still baffles me that it cost 1K for 4ft of exhaust. Woops let me be fair. It 4ft per side so that's $125/ft. But I'm still buying it.

I agree, you can get this very simple work done at a local muffler shop for a lot less than half the cost. I have the roe bullet mufflers on my car and really do like them. but i didnt buy the rest of the system from HIM.... the mufflers probably (i didnt check) cost me as much as the rest of the exhaust did.

I'm not saying yes or no to any vendor, just advising you sit and ride around in a Gen 1 with "improved" exhaust (with and without the top on). It is more susceptible to cockpit drone because of the sidepipes. Bought my '94 with a Hennessey 3" cat and muffler already on it, tried three other types of replacement 3" mufflers and couldn't get rid of that ear-full sensation. I finally put a stock Gen 2 rear exhaust on it (which people claimed was a HP gain because it was less restrictive).

My Roe high flo cats lasted less than a year after having been wrapped in the "recommended" Roe insulation blanket.
They had to be spot welded to seal up the many leaks.
The blanket helped to rot them.

Just my experience.

I have a 93 and was thinking on doing a change as the existing pipes get so hot they are bubbling the paint. I have heard of space age heat tape from airplanes etc., but I was thinking on getting an exhaust like the Roe that might help get the air through without so much heat and get extra HP.
What is the best way to go?

High Flo exhaust will help a great deal, but they still get plenty hot.
Like Dave says, the more air in, over and around them the better.

JD, you probably know RedEnuf93 by now but he has sick GenI. You'll see him at Pocono this spring. I absolutely love his SC GenI. I don't know if he's done head work or not but I think you'll be pleased at the possibilities with the GenI Roe on your Viper. His hood is insane too...you'll probably want one when you see it it in person. :D

As for side sill heat, get a set of vents for the front of the side sills. They'll air move through the side sills. I believe Dave has them on his sills. Search ebay, SpeedTactics make a version of these as well but I'm partial to the sill vents from DC Performance.

Yes I know RedEnuf93. His hood is a Diamondback. Looks great with the roof he has. Mike the owner of XVipers has been trying to convince me to get one. But I have a Mach 7 roof which is very flat. I dont think the hood would look right on my car.

The sill vents I have seen on ebay and from others I could have made from my lazer cutting guy for half the price. Anyone interested in sill vents for $60/pair???? My lazer cutter loves making custom things for me. Tony do you have them on your car?

I have Belangers, Roe and 3" stainless pipes with Dynomax bullit mufflers.
You can definately hear me coming 3 blocks away. Drone with the Autoform top is pretty bad, without the top its not too bad...
After 4 hour drive you want to put your head inside a quiet pillow.:crazy2:

:headbang:I love it and I hate it. :headbang:

After 2 years I have not decided yet what to do with it, so I quess I'll keep it one more year?:2tu: See me at the Pocono again!
