I wonder if this is the way of the future?

GM said it hoped to float the company on the stock exchange again "as soon as practical".

The US government has said it does not want to be involved in the day-to-day running of the carmaker.

The company also said it was exploring a partnership with online auction site eBay to make it easier for customers to buy its cars.

Well- I suppose they could go around the dealers- charge MSRP and keep the profit themselves. Seems like a real bad idea though!

Actually it sounds like a way to pass part of the savings to the customer and increased profits for the dealership as well as GM. The saleman will lose out, and quite frankly save for a few good guys like Bill Pemberton, I say good. The worst part of buying cars is dealing with salesman. I could tell you what I really think, but this is a family forum. Let me just say that the whole sales game and all the cronies behind it are a big part of the automakers problem.
