Every night at around 11pm or so I head out for a 45 minute long drive to put some miles on the Snake...been doing this for a while now. I just cruise, listen to some tunes and enjoy the car. Dallas area police (and everywhere else too I imagine) are going to great lengths to crack down on street racing - going so far as planting disguised "hot rods" (ranging from rice to tricked out pony cars) on the streets and trying to instigate. In addition, the unmarked car population has skyrocketed lately around here it seems. Plano and other areas around here have a "zero tolerance" rule - if you're caught street racing, you spend the night in jail. Beauty part is - if someone trys to race YOU and they believe that you were involved, whether you bit or not, they'll toss ya both in. Happens a lot around here.

Anyhow. Tonight, I'm followed by cops not once, but THREE times. Usually it happens about once a week and you just get used to altering your route on the fly so they have to go straight where you turn, etc.

The first guy just happened to fall in behind me and followed me for a bit. No harm done and it is a red Viper with white stripes...I can cut the guy some slack, just doing his job. He pulls off when he realizes I'm not doing 150mph.

10 minutes later, another cruiser flips an illegal u-turn to catch and follow me for a bit...I was certain he would pull me "just because". But he did the same thing and flipped around again to follow someone else when he too realized, GASP - I was doing the speed limit.

Really harshing my mellow, these guys.

Now mister high and mighty - the 3rd guy. I'm coming up behind him and spot him a mile away - he has just wrapped up a ticket and is pulling back out with his lights lit. Well, he spots the Viper in his rearview, STOPS cold (he was headed into a turn lane), throws it in reverse and backs up a bit and waits to see what lane I pull into. No ****. Of course, he follows me as I turn...I'm about 2 miles away from the house, turning onto one of the back roads leading there.

This guy follows me to my freaking DRIVEWAY for 2 miles. He would relax and fall back about 15 car lengths, then speed up RIGHT on my tail like he was going to pull me...I'm sure just having a good time with is partner : "Hey buddy, watch as I mess with this Vipah here...lookie here......hehe!...[******] that was fun...les do it again..."

The whole following me into my subdivision, into my alley, and right up to my driveway just blew my mind. I pull in, get out and stare at them as they drive on by...I just know they thought I was trying to lose them in the subdivision but good Lord...talk about annoying and [******] near harassing!

I swear I was this-close to just pulling over, throwing the hazards on, stepping out with my hands on my head and assuming the position on my hood just to get them to chill the F out.

What I love the most about tonight is now I fully expect this 3rd @sshole to "******" me around every night on my cruises...I love that they have nothing better to do.

I know, I know...it's a Viper.

(BTW - I meant to create this in Snake Pit Grill...pretty sure the mods will want to move it that direction)

Hmmmm...I wonder if driving around with a mullet wig will help out...you know, they might see "one of their own" and cut me some slack, with a secret hand wave of some sort too I'm sure. :)

in that situation, I would have hit the flashers, slammed on the brakes and hopped out. I wouldnt have "assumed the position" however....just sat there and stared at them. Maybe even called the Cops ON the cops with that one. Hell.. maybe if I was lucky, they might have to swerve off the road to avoid rear-ending me... UHH... BRAKE FAILURE OFFICER, I SWEAR!

Plano cops kill me! We met up one night and they harassed us the entire time! I think half the people went home with tickets for no front plate. I wish they'd stick to catching bad guys instead of pulling over the people that actually pay their salaries!

I sure feel much safer knowing the my well spent tax money is being used to keep tabs on you Nexus-6. If 3 are following you around thats 3 less to follow me around, HAH! :)

I just had a similar exp couple weeks ago on a trip to Austin. Got pulled over twice within 10 miles for too dark tinted windows and no front plate. The first guy had to turn around coming from the opposite direction through a muddy divider on the interstate to come and get me. Actually gave me a ticket, not a warning, a ticket. Now don't ya'll feel safer! :(

Hey Nexus-6 you should come out and join us tonight at the Ennis drag strip. there are going to be 8 to 10 of us going to see what kind of Snake bait we can find. We are leaving from North Park Mall in front of PF Changs at 4:00pm today. We would love to see that FE run, or maybe the 69 money pit

Chuck, not a good idea. I n Jersey, flipping one off is considered a form of solicitation of prostitution. Long time ago, I was a cop there. We would arrest for that, even though it would not hold up in court. Gave us revenge. John Ps--I Mostly agree with your opinions of the men in blue.

Its one shade above black paint. I can see out just fine, even at night. Cop gave me this story about people being killed because they couldn't see out the side window at night at intersections. I told him When I drove to and from work the sun glare would be more likely to blind people during rush hours ect. Everyone should be required to have dark tint... Logic eludes these people and our lawmakers. Common sense is replaced for that extra dollar to be made. I got the ticket dismissed but I still had to pay the $56 court cost. Welcome to "Scam-A-Pa-Looza" :)

I'll be going down tonight. Tint has been changed for any officers checking in on this board... :)

[******]! I'd love to go down to Ennis tonight but won't be able to even leave the office until after 9pm tonight. :(

Helluva way to spend a Friday night...

I'll do my part tonight in drawing their attention so you guys have a clear route home from the track though. ;)

Been there - done that - seen it. I feel so much more comfortable knowing that "they" are making sure that I am a safe driver.

It's funny to think that we pay taxes, are basically friendly, law abiding people - and that we need to be "hounded."

But then again - it only takes 1 second of stupidity to kill someone, maybe it's ok as long as they're fair..

A red with white stripes Viper is so different from everything else on the street, sometimes I get accused of speeding when people are passing me. I know the car looks fast, even standing still. Last cop that pulled me gave me the full pat down and interrogation (my friend too) and THEN, because he was mad, threatened to take me to jail for cussing. The town of Chesnee SC seems to have a law pertaining to this. He wasn't too happy after he called me a liar and asked if I understood him. I said " I know that you understand that you think you know I'm not telling the truth about driving too fast." Talk about RED FACED ANGRY! I had 12-15 buddies standing 10 feet away watching all this. It was the best entertainment all night!

I had an office on Renner Road and I-75 and know full well how crazy driving is in that area ... but most of the irresponsible behavior comes from the Yuppie SUV crowd who apparently remain invisible to the law. Too bad ehh!

Wouldn't be surprised if there were some major complaints in Richardson about speeding cars. The Police are probably just tailing you for a show.

About 5 years ago when I had a Porsche Twin Turbo, I got my daily Police ****** from the hospital to my office. As I would leave the hospital a motorcycle policemen would leave the bank parking lot and follow me to my office. It lasted about 2 months.

My .02

The area I live in is lower/middle middle class so the Viper doesnt fit in at all.. I think a 328 BMW is the next closest thing..lol

Anyway.. A week does not go by where I am not followed all the way to my driveway by a cop car. I tend to work until midnight at least a few days a week and like clockwork there they are. Sometimes so arrogant as to shine their spotlight on me as I enter the garage.

Oh well...

ACR Joe - too ironic! It's on Renner near George Bush that I do most of my cruising - I live out that way...

Yeah, they can be pretty bad at night. During they day it's no biggie but a Final Edition cruising around at night HAS to be looking for a race. Period. And honestly, they'd be right most of the time, just not 100% of the time...not enough to ****** me home in any event. Still peeved about it...

anunakki - yup, same story here. Lots of late nights...heading home well past 10pm most nights. They used to follow me in the SS a ton back then (loud black SS out after 10pm? Oh most certainly racing) even got the spotlight thing as I pulled into my old townouse garage years ago. I asked loudly but as friendly as I could if he wanted to come in for a beer - he sped off looking pissed. ;)

Vreracing - I can step outside most nights and hear racing all over the place. I live about 3 miles away from George Bush and the access roads can turn into staging lanes on the weekends...so, yeah - it's a hot spot for them. Man, that ***** about the 911...did you just get to the point where you'd wave and smile at them every morning? :)

I got a ticket from a CHP for doing 90 on a public road.

Its so unfair! :D

Wow, Texas is down on Vipers! The California Highway Patrol is pretty good, not too overbearing, and mostly professional.

If the Plano cops are harrassing you, call the mayor and complain. It may not change things much, but it makes some noise.

You gotta fight for your rights! (easy for me to say in out here in So Cal)
