GTS question

I'm new to the Viper world and need some info. Is there both a Gen I and Gen II GTS? Also, was the blue w/white stipes made for all years of the GTS? Finally, what year did ABS come into production?

Only GEN II GTS's.
Blue/white GTS's built in 1996 and 1997.
ABS for Vipers stock in 2000.

no there is no gen 1 GTS it started in 1996 and is considerd a gen 2 when you buy parts for it.

i have seen blue with white stripes in all years yes if every year came that way stock i dont know but i have seen every year GTS with that color.

2001 was the first year for ABS

The only difference I know of is the 96 stripes run through the rear license plate recess. They do NOT run through the L.P. recess on the 97.

Is there any other differences?

In addition to the stipe running through the license plate area on the "96 B/W the spacing is also a little different than on the "97 B/W. According to Jon B's article "The Year Matters" in the Spring 2001 Viper Magazine, "To make for easier production alignment, the white stripes were set wider apart and skipped the license plate wells."

vette2viper: So which one are you looking at buying ?

Looking to buy an '04...just because I want the most bells and whistles available to date. As to my favorite look, the GTS has to be the sexiest car on the road, with the blue/white my first choice. Looking at your '01 pic, the sapphire w/stipes looks very "blue" to me...very sharp car! If I went with a '01, I could still have a GTS, still have blue, have ABS, but be lacking about 50 horses...do I have that right?

And special thanks to the member that gave me the post listing the details about each year/gen and the power specs. Choices, choices, choices!!! I'm really not a convertible-type person and would probably always leave the SRT-10 top up. Geez...wish they made an '04 coupe!!!

Todd...thanks for the info. The $100k sticker is okay, but I don't think I want to wait over a year for my first Viper. At my age, I want time to enjoy it...LOL. So, will probably keep looking for a nice 2001-2000 GTS, maybe add a 04 SRT10, and have seem some nice Prowlers...really great looking car for playtime!
