Hand Brake Pulls Up too Far...

After mine starting doing this quite often, I took out the console to find the problem. The mechanism where the little spring is at the bottom of the lever just needed to be lubricated. It's pretty obvious when you get down to it. One way I found around it is to not pull up so quick.

Mine also seems to do the same thing, but only when I pull the handle up and towards me (which is a natural motion when seated in the drivers seat). When I pull the handle straight up, (i.e. perpendicular to the console surface) it has never done this. Not sure if the sideways tension causes the teeth to misalign or what, but that has been my experience.
