There are self contained LED lights that you push to turn on. I am going to add one to my trunk area and was wondering if anyone did it and what they used.

If so please post a picture.

I have a vert by the way.

I know lots of people have done the dash, vanity and footwell led's. i havent heard about the trunk though.:eater:

Well, for a coupe, it isn't hard...just pull the old 194 bulb out, replace it with a comparable LED. The problem here appears to be that the factory did not include a courtesy light in the trunks of the roadsters...having not owned or even been around a Viper roadster (at least not long enough to pop their trunk and see if they had a light in there, like that would ever cross my mind), I can't confirm this, but it seems to make sense. He is looking for a standalone, battery operated solution, to which I have no recommendations.

They are easy to find, just not sure if anyone had done it.

Can anyone confirm if they have carpet or not under their trunk lid?
Mine does not for some reason ....!

I figured since my car was mint but it looks really unfinished just to save a pound.

I will be adding a light there with double sided tape so I can see the contents of my trunk

I haven't put anything in the trunk, but that's not a bad idea. I have push button LED work lights that I use, and it would be easy to stick one in the trunk. I might have to look into that.

What I did do, was add some high powered LED light strips to work as back-up lights. I noticed that after I tinted my lights, my reverse lights were basically worthless (you can see them on in one of the pics), so I got a couple of 48" strips that we use inside toolboxes at work and put them under the rear bumper. I put them right where the diffuser and bumper come together, so they cannot be seen at all until they turn on. This means that I could only aim them firing straight down, but it still puts out more than enough light to let me see when backing up. I was meeting a freind a bar and he was pulling into the parking lot when I was backing into a parking spot. He came up to me and said "what the hell did you add to your car?" I asked him waht he meant and he said it looked like damn airplane lights. Success!!!!

I even put two strips on my trailer (under the extensions where the ramps hook on, so they can't be seen unless they are turned on), and also running the entire length of the fenders (up inside the fenders and firing down). When I throw that thing in reverse at night, it lights up behind me like you wouldn't believe and also completely lights up where my tires are so I can make sure not to run over anything. These LED strips are amazing!

Very cool idea looks good.

I'll give away my secret. I bought a motion sensing led light so I dont even have to push anything after opening the trunk. Lets see how it works! Thats what I suggest to all so its "automatic" and you dont have to wire it in anywhere

What will happen if you have something in the trunk and it moves? You may have that light on quite often, LOL. Why not just install a pin switch and hardwire to your car, the light does not have to be on the lid, many cars have them on the side of the trunk compartment.

I dont want to wire in for simplicity and to go back to stock in two seconds I will double sided tape it on. I like your other side of the coin viewpoints.
I dont store anything there besides my car cover, if it causes I problem I'll take it out. Other than that there should be nothing to cause it to go off unless the motion of the car does. Will try it out and see, think the batteries will last hundreds of hours as well.
