I have the display mounted where the radio goes and then the wire goes underneath the console and out the back where it plugs into the receiver velcro'd on the back glass.

But I'm guessing your's is a street ride and you want to keep your radio, correct?

When I get around to it, I will be using high quality Velcro to attach the display just below and to the right of the center vents.

For the display, I used an audio speaker mount made for mounting small speakers to home walls, kind of like the ones on the back of Bose surround sound speakers. I drilled out a hole in the back of the display, attached it to the speaker mount, and then mounted the speaker mount to the passenger-side sun visor screw that holds up the left edge of the visor. This way, you can rotate the display to face the driver, and it's out of the way, but is easy to access for pushing buttons.

For the receiver, I made a box out of plexiglass (big flat piece was heated and shaped with a heat gun) that mounts to the screw holes where the rear license plate goes. This clear box gave me a mounting surface that attached to the car, without touching anything on the paint, and pushed the box about 6 inches past the rear bumper. Then I used another speaker mount and attached the receiver to the plexiglass box. By doing it this way, you can rotate the receiver to face either side of the car, depending on where you have mounted the trackside IR sender for the unit.

All of these pieces can be quickly removed with out any damage. If I had pictures, I'd include them. I ended up selling the Hot Lap timer and gave away all these parts with it.

As a side note, my friend has a cool new tool for timing laps called a D90. Their website is http://www.dl90.com/ . He has one in his 911, and it's a pretty amazing piece of hardware/software.

The velcro they supply does not stick to the dash, mine peeled off clean, duct tape the receiver to your rear window.
