Has anyone hauled there Viper on an open trailer with Mopar car cover on?
I'm planning on hauling my GTS to BIR for Viper Days on a POS open trailer and I was wondering if I would get much or any scuffing from the cover flapping in the wind. The cover fits very well, but depending on the cover I have found some to flap alot when towing at 70-80 mph (not my Snake), which would not be good for my pampered paint.
By the way the POS trailer I'll be using doesn't have a front or wind deflector or what ever the he!! you want to call it.
Thanks

A club member hauled his GTS from Raleigh to Indiana (12 hours) on an open trailer sans car cover and it was fine, as was the car hauled to VOI7 for 8 hours on the same trailer. No wind faring on that one either. The car cover won't work - it'll beat the everliving crap out of your car and probably will fly off - let some wind get under it and it's amazing what it can do.

What Janni saud. Three years ago I hauled my GTS from Olympis, Wash. to Newport, RI on Sloan. Open trailer, wind guard, NO COVER! You will be sorry!!! Dirt and road grimes washes off.....rub marks are forever (almost). :)

You'll be fine. Do you drive your car? Trailering it on an open trailer is not much different really.

Imagine tailgating a truck for however miles you are going.. now imagine the front of your Viper after tailgating said miles.. rockchips galore. You're going to end up with more rock chips all over the front of your car than if you would have just driven the car.. covering it will put on rub marks as others have said. If you are going to trailer it i'd suggest you do it right.. either with a deflector on the front or in an enclosed unit. Talk to people at carshows.. many of them found out the hard way with their nice street rods.

Tracy...all you guys do up there is heavy equipment, doesn't anyone have a welding machine??? Weld a deflector on there, with a tire rack!

I know Gerald, it's the time I don't have. We are in our busy season and I don't have the man power, customer always comes 1st:)

I'm looking at renting something maybe. If all else fails, my wife can follow me down with the parts and tools.

I've towed my Viper on an open trailer with no fairing for at least 10,000 miles with no chips, if you're that worried about it buy some contact/shelf paper and cover the front.

Thanks, not really that worried. Just wondering how bad the Mopar cover flaps in the wind.

A lot depends on the tow vehicle and the trailer. The SUV's are the worse, the wheels are located fairly close to the rear. My Envoy just pelts the trailer and car with debris. I had to put a shroud on the front, it wasn't debatable.

I think that mud flaps or splash guards on the rear tires of the tow vehicle would also help from all the stone chips. Don't know about the car cover though, I think it would just flap around and make scratches into your paint.
