I don't recall my car getting (or needing) an alignment when I had both recalls done. Ask Chuck @ Tator's or Mark @ Woodhouse

no alignment needed, its just a case of welding and riviting some triangular shaped plates, then painting

you shouldnt pay for anything, i had a free courtesy car for the day while the work was being carried out others here had a free flat bed transporter to take the car and bring it back afterwards

The 999 & 998 recalls are comprised of adding reinforcements as mentioned to prevent frame damage such as cracks / broken weld joints. It is noted to inspect for damage, if it already happened then an alignment is necessary after the damage repair and added reinforcements (which are intended to prevent the damage). If damage didn't occur then an alignment is not necessary.

There are a few existing Posts regarding this as well as the recall notices and procedure in a 90+ page pdf on the VCA site which explains all this.

Make sure whoever is doing your "999" that they don't install backwards.
The instructions are wrong.
Do a search here and make sure the dealer who is doing your recall knows what they are doing.
Impropper install results in one helluva time changing oil.

There are lots and lots of discussions on here about people that had it done wrong (myself included). Do a search and you will find hundreds of posts.

recalls are for what years?

Recall 998: 1996-1999 [Coupe & Roadster] built through March 1, 1999 [MDH 030110]

Recall 999: 1999-2000 [Coupe & Roadster] built from March 1, 1999 through October 2, 2000 [MDH 030111 - MDH 1002XX]

I have done 212 of them[ 6 of them had broken frames!] and had to fix "so far" 23 that were done WRONG from 23 different Dealers!!:buttkick: :slap: :bonker: You know who you are because when Chrysler pays me to fix them, then Chrysler [this is the part I like!] charges back that Dealer that did it wrong in the first place!!:lmao:

If you want to call me, I can tell you ALL about this Recall.

The problem wasn't all the fault of the dealers it was that the brackets were mislabeled from the manufacturer. The dealer's only fault was that they didn't do a sanity check before installing them.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the great info!!! I will update you on Tuesday of what happened.....you have me doubting them very much now. They called me Friday morning, saying they will do the alignment in the afternoon, and be ready tonight.....called me this morning(SAT) and said it will not be ready until Tuesday because they needed some special alignment guy to make sure it is done right???? I can't see how it would be that difficult, but I am no mechanic, so I will see on Tuesday?? Will I be able to tell if it is backwards just by looking at it when I pick it up??

Thanks you so much for all the great info!!!

Its an idiot test, bc only an idiot would put them over the oil filter!
