I purchased headlamp shields for tracking my 2000 GTS. Anybody know if they are going to yellow or scratch up over time? I wanted to use them only when I'm at the track but I don't think their coming off once there on. They came from snake oyl via John B.

Don't want to high jack your thread but can I tag on?

Do I need these for Viper days or can I just use some tape?

Can the shields be removed or are they permanent?

Bill,
Yes, you can use tape.
I don't believe the shields can be removed very easily, that's why I'm hesitating to put them on my Viper. if there going to yellow or scratch over time I may just take my chances and leave them off.

I too bought them from Snake-Oyl a couple years ago, but have not put them on due to the same concerns.

I know that the "clear" on the headlamp modules is fairly delicate and I was wondering that if these covers yellowed, it might ruin the lense while removing the covers.

Maybe someone has them and actually used them?

Got mine from Snak-Oyl, and have had them on for about six months. It took a couple months for all of the moisture and air bubbles to completely clear away. Can't tell they are even on the car. They look great and no signs of yellowing. Hope this helps. :usa:

I have them on my BMW 850, Mercedes S500 and Viper. They have not "yellowed" and have no signs of yellowing. I have had them on for 3 years on the Viper, 1 year on Merc and BMW. They actually saved my $700 light bucket on my 8. I know that they can be removed, but not reapplied because of stretching and finger prints on the film. If removed, it will not rip the light off the hinges. I have seen unprotected Viper lights that are yellowed, but they are because the owner cleaned them with God-knows-what and did not have the film on. The film makes it easy to clean and actually make s a bumper so that rocksdon't crack the headlight lens.

You can get them for.......

Or Snake-Oyl.....My Viper ones are from Snake-Oyl and the others are from the above link.
