My passenger door did something similar that when I first got my Viper. It turned out that the door solenoid that includes the locking mechanism and alarm was malfunctioning intermittently. In my case, I was also getting an occasional alarm going off for no obvious reason as well.

I had that happen a couple times with my car early on. At one point the driver's door stopped opening completely with the electric release. Found that the wire inside the "conduit" between the door and the body had flexed too much and broken. Two weeks later and the driver's door speaker went out. Same thing - broken wires between the door and the body. Strange stuff indeed...

My 99ACR locked me in on the way to VOI4. After a couple years of more frequent problem the alarm died. It got to the point where it would not arm. Solution a new alarm module, no more problems with my alarm.

I shut off the car and release the inside exit latch and nothing happens (i.e., the door does not pop open). So I release the emergency latch to get out. It doesn't always happen, just once or twice a week...becoming a pain point. All other electrical components including the alarm system works fine. Any idea what's going on and how can I fix it. Pls advise.

BTW, the car is 99 RT/10.
