I just received my billet glove box door, but not sure what the correct way to take out the lock without breaking it. I see there is a clip, is there a way to get it out that is easy?

I would like to have that in before the OCC event.

Thanks.

And, of course there is more, the description on the MGW site says easy bolt on...but they never give you the machine screws necessary as the factory one uses self threading.

Going to, they are in CA so can't call yet. But, its a bit of a pain as I took the door off and then noticed that there were self threading screws and the new door is machine threads.

Just a pain.

Will do, so how do you get the clip off the lock without breaking it?

Do I just pull with a pair of plyers, or do I need to do something while pulling?

Thanks.

Just looked at mine...

Yes, it looks like that is a job for careful prying. Maybe a couple small screwdrivers on the side to spread the clip a little, and then a little bigger one on the back to work it free.

It went on w/o breaking, it will come off!

Cool! Thanks for the advice, will try carefully!

Just picked up the screws temporarily until (hopefully) MGW provides black screws to fit.

Thanks again.

ACE hardware around here usually carries a wide selection of specialty fasteners. I'd bet that you could get your black screws there, if you have one nearby.

Okay, so two (minor) updates...I picked up screws that fit, though they are silver. But, more importantly, received a call from MGW and they are sending me the correct (black) screws! Good customer service so far.

The glove box door, like the other pieces received (ash tray, heater knobs) are first rate and really add a nice look to the all black interior.

My only issue now, is removing the lock and fitting it in the new door (without breaking or scraching anything.

Updates and pics to follow.

Thanks all.

the clip is not hard to remove. i just pulled one side till it was over the edge and then the other side. once both are over the edge, just give it a pull. if it warps a little, dont worry just put it back into shape.

That looks real nice. But a few questions...

-> How many G's will the cup holder keep your Lone Star stable in the corners?

-> Where's your damn surfboard sticking out the passenger seat?

Well....I'm one of "those" guys that never eats or drinks in my Viper (or Corvette in the past). So, because there is such a premium on space to put stuff, I opted to pass on the cup holder. But, at least it is one of those things that can be added at a later date if I decide I want it.

Install was easy, for those interested, fit is good and screw holes lined up. Surprisingly, the clip that holds the lock is plastic on the factory door, so it came off pretty easily. For anyone doing this, I would be careful not to open the clip too much...looks like it could break without much doing.:nono:

On the surfboard, not my thing....have a boat which, by the way, just didn't fit well in the passenger seat!:crazy2:

Picked up a few MGW pieces for the dash to spruce it up a little - heater knobs, ash tray and lighter (on back order). Gives the interior a nice look without being too "in your face." Photo didn't come out, that's why I didn't include it...next time I shoot a few, I'll do the dash.

Thanks again to everyone.

See many of you at OCC next week!!:drive:

So, just happened to be on the phone with MGW and turns out that the little markers on the new heater knobs (that I thought were black) actually light up red when the dash lights are one...it looks way cool, especially in a red car!:2tu:

I bought a set of the chrome ones. The do a nice job of dressing that area w/o too heavy on the bling factor.

And yes, most all accessories dress up a RED Viper just nicely. Even white hood vents...

Last piece (backordered) is the Sneaky Pete lighter, due to ship out this coming Tuesday.

The MGW pieces, I agree, add a little to the interior without being overbearing.

Thanks.

Well, this was my first experience with them. I agree, their parts are very well made and fit as you would expect them to. Probably will pick up a few more pieces, just not sure what I want to add yet.
